Looking at playing

I got many moons ago (2+ years) the Call to Arms box set.

MGP 3342
2 Books Rules and Fleet
With an Extra Set of Counters and two PDF downloads of counters I bought.

What do I need to be current now?

thanks
Lee

To be completely current rules wise you need to get a copy of Sky full of stars and Armegeddon. You can pick up a copy of the Dilgar and Drakh supplements if you want, but strictly speaking you don't need them. You can take a look at all the ship stats from the various shipviewers out there, but for the rules stuff you'll need to get the books.

Does the new boxed set have those 2 in it, or is it something else?

Sorry for the confusion, on my part.

Lee

No, the new box set is just an updated version of the one you have. The updates you need are contained within the "Sky Full of Stars" and "Armageddon" supplements

Just to clarify a little, the updated box set is an updated set of the rules from the original containing all the changes to the basic rules introduced in SFoS but it does NOT contain all the extra ships and advanced rules (like boarding etc) from SFoS. Basically you need either the original or the revised box set and SFoS+Arm to be fully up to date, if you use the original box set SFoS updates several of the rules to what you get in the revised version but also adds loads of stuff thats only in SFoS.

Long story short, buy SFoS and Armageddon and your sorted if you have the original box :)

Quite a few things actually. Stealth rules are changed, fighters now fire first instead of last, EA list is split into 3 distinct eras to enforce in service dates, vorlons and shadows are updated, ancients are introduced and a number of new ships are added.

Stats wise you can see the new additions by looking at the Shipviewer (http://uk.geocities.com/l_b_h@btinternet.com/Armageddon/ShipList.htm) For the rules though you should rely on the actual book. There are bits and pieces of it out there on the forums, but it is easier to buy the book or download the PDF.

2 weeks of flu and a broken toe limit you to the couch more than you'd think.

*ouch* I was starting to wonder what had happenned to you. Hate to pile on, but the page for the thoughtforce doesn't seem to be there. Really more my fault than yours, but thought I would point it out in case it is an easy thing for you to fix.

Wow

ACTA is a bit expensive to get started.

Guees I'll pick Sky Up this week or VAS .... to much good stuff not enough money or time

Not quite - you can start with the basic box and get going, along with your whole gaming group. One box for many, many players isn´t too expensive, I think.

It´s just that ACTA has grown quite a bit with SFOS and Armageddon, so while you don´t have to buy them, they will enrichen your games quite a bit (and they include all the rules updates, of course).

It's also worth taking a look at Signs and Portents (free from this site) since a few new ships have been added since Armageddon and two (Omega command variant and Sagittarius) have been updated.

Thoughtforce should now be up, dunno where it went. Also fixed the gorith and Poseidon stats.
