If I withdraw a fighter stand off the table during a tourney game, will that deny a 20-0 victory for the other player?

i hate that whole withdraw and leave the enemy with less points thing, if they control space so completely you had to withdraw that should be 20-0 victory too as you obviously only withdrawn to stop being completely annihilated, and to allow a fighter to prevent it is just completely insane.

This is rulesmasters, not a discussion. We aren't interested in opinion or speculation here, only what the rules actually are (insane or not).

On topic, I'm pretty sure Matt ruled that escaping fighters do prevent a 20-0 victory. I don't recall VP's being anything to do with it, and the ruling wasn't Armageddon-specific. But, I can't find the thread, seems it was one of the deleted ones.

well definately will have to get my abbai together for next tourney - 20 kothas, am sure i can afford one to fly away straight off :) ]
see thats how insane this ruling is.

I directly asked Matt this last tourney (as my opponent PaulyD was faced with most of my fleet and had only one ship and one fighters left). He said if "any" element of a fleet, including fighters, escaped destruction whether by withdrawing or otherwise, the fleet doesn't count as destroyed (and hence wouldn't get 20-0)

Cheers Triggy :)
