ACTA Tournament -Saturday 20th Feb 2010

ok, well, then I need some advise on cheap hotels in the London area. Is there someone going that lives in London? I could use a lift...hehe!

Stansted is quite far out of London ;)
Premier Inns are good, the one in Harlow (10 miles from Stansted) is £29 per night.

TGT and I are coming from Aldershot. If you can get yourself to Luton (or somewhere else on our route) then we can pick you up. There are frequent buses between Stansted and Luton, I think that would be the most convenient, if the flight times work out...

yeah, calling stansted london is a bit of a joke really.
mm, easyjet fly into Luton, anything from them on the cheapies?

To get to the UK from Sweden on Easyjet, you have to go via Milan or Geneva!!
BMI fly to Heathrow (also on our route), they are quite expensive though, and on the 20th the flight arrives about an hour too late.

I have a spare bed, I am willing to lend to one of our international players, so they don't need a hotel. So you could stay Friday and/or Saturday night.

You'd still need to get to Kettering. I can't guarantee any lifts (except to and from the tourney) because I don't know what my shifts will be like on Friday and Sunday.

PM me or email me.

So just supposing I can make it with the Ryanair flight for 29 euro, is there a cheap hotel in the area and how do I get there from Stansted?

Off topic, I really wish two of the scenarios I wrote could have made it into print. "Surprise, Surprise" and Out of Thier League " were great multiplayer scenarios.

Back on topic, sort of, I was thinking Earth Alliance early years, but I would like to check out what is in P&P. Anyone know where to find a copy?

There is a railway station at Stanstead. You can get to Kettering, although you may have to change trains several times. Train times are here: http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/Default.aspx?base

Or it may well be cheaper and easier to hire a car: http://www.stanstedairport.com/portal/page/Stansted%5EGeneral%5EPlan+and+book+your+trip%5EBook+your+trip%5ECar+hire/49b7bf71a168d110VgnVCM10000036821c0a____/448c6a4c7f1b0010VgnVCM200000357e120a____/

There is a Travel Lodge http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=138

And a Holiday Inn: http://www.hiexpress.co.uk/h/d/ex/925/en/hd/ormkp?sicreative=3870625061&sitrackingid=80440598&sicontent=0&siclientid=1936&cm_mmc=Google-PS-EX_UK-_-G%20B-EMEA-Mkt-GBR-_-Phrase-_-holiday%20inn%20express%20kettering|-|100000000000178654116&cm_guid=1-_-100000000000178654116-_-3870625061&dp=true&_requestid=567754

And premier inn: http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/KETTEL/kettering?CMP=KNC_Gb

Talk to Orphanmaker - it looks like he will be travelling to Stanstead too.

If Greg's suggestions don't work out then I would recommend the Stansted -> Luton bus, stay over at the Luton Airport Premier Inn for £29 a night if you book in advance, and I can transport you to the tourney and back. That's probably the cheapest way, and if you share a twin room with Orphanmaker then it's even cheaper.

Looks like I am out. The trip to Stansted is nothing, but the accomodations and travel inside England are killer. If I could justify spending a week, then maybe, but just the hotel is going to run around 100 pounds. The wife would freak if I spent 150 euro or so to go play ACTA!

Damn, really wanted to make this one too.

No problems my friend! I have just learned that my brother have a friend in London who would be happy to drive the both of us from Stansted to Luton airport. If we share a room it will be quite cheap and we could get a ride to the turnament with Burger right?
Don´t tell me problems, tell me solutions, hehe!

I plan to stay the evening at Kettering, then drive back to Stansted at night and check in at a house next the airport (3min to check in terminal).

Charles, I know that you've stated that P+P is in effect, so does that mean no more League fleets... only Army of Light? 8)

@tankdriver - sorry to hear that :(

Ken

Hmm I would say yes - to avoid complications.......

although it still means that you can field League fleets as long as all ships are ISD 2258 or earlier - which is fair chunk of the available ships.

Going to the tournament is no longer an option for me.

"Option" implies choice. Train tickets, Travelodge and Friday off work are now booked, so the choice has been made. Barring some major and unforeseen problem, I will be there. It's no longer an option, it's compulsory.:)

Which means:

Can I share the car with you between Kettering and the tournament?

I plan to bring both Shadow and Army of Light fleets. If I'm playing Shadows in a game, you're welcome to borrow the Army of Light. You could also play Earth or Vree in smaller scenarios as my Army of Light includes enough of each to field 5 Skirmish or 3 Raid.

^Ok, why not. If there in Kettering is a good Pizzashop or some else?
I will come to england with only my Fleet and a toothbrush  and have to fill the time between tournament and the flight back next morning with some thing.

Borrow some League ships?, may be I take this chance, but in first line I will fight with my brand new ISA and thier Allies. Hope the last lack of ordered ships from US come in at the next days.

May be I argue Mr. Pink to came to the Turnament to. So Iám not so alone on the way :)

Hi guys or Moin in german,

G´Quan convinced me to come to your little party there and the flight is already booked :) So now I just hav to decide what fleet i will play.
hmm...
But there are still some days left to think about my fleet.

So I´m anxious to meet some guy from the forum here in persona.
