ACTA - Shooting into a Dogfight

OK so we had this game last weekend.

EA Starfuries get locked into a dogfight with some Shadow Spitfires. Rolling for dogfight resolution resulted in a draw. During the shooting phase the Shadow player decides to shoot the Starfury flight that is locked into a dogfight.

We had some questions about whether this could be done or not. A dogfight by definition is a swirling mass of fighters, so I'd imagine it would be hard to shoot into a dogfight without risk of hitting one's own fighters. Unsure as to how this can be done, we resolved it as normal shooting combat and the Starfury flight was destroyed.

Thanks!

I see it in ASFoS p 10. Also answers my next question regarding a 3rd party not involved in the dogfight.

boy I really wish there was a compiled book. Between my 1st printing rulebook, ASFoS, Armageddon and all the FAQs, this is worse than Battletech to keep track of.

A 3rd party not involved can fire into the dogfight as long as it does not involve his own fighters. So if you had another player playing Minbari, he could fire into the EA/Shadows dogfight. You randomly allocate your attack dice between those involved in the dogfight, prior to rolling.

I totaly agree with below, its really ackward rushing between the original rulle book, a sky full of stars and armagedon, I would not have minded paying for a 2nd edition rule book on its own where its all compiled (one with out the counters)

Two fighter flights are in a dog fight. One flight gets destroyed during the fighters go first phase. Is the oppenent able to shoot at the undestroyed fighter flight with a ship later that phase.

Could you please referance a rule so I can show others.

Yes.

As for rules reference, well the rule is "ships may not shoot into a dogfight". Since the fighter is no longer in a dogfight, ships can shoot at it.

I dont think they can as it stands, as AA fire goes first in the attack phase so the fighters would be classed as dogfighting so no shooting allowed
