ACTA: SF The Reflection Universe

Right so some of you may be aware of my liking for alternative realities (*) and we know we can't use the frankly brilliant Mirror Universe, but that there are a few bits and pieces on the "Reflection Universe"

It does not seem to have attracted much interest in the SFU thus far - not really sure why :? .

What, if anything, would ADB object to if someone had a go at making stuff up for this - with say - The Celestial Empire imposing its will on the barabric hordes of lesser races that can be found in the galaxy?

I get that we can't have the actual stuff from the show - but the alt reality seems to be fairly common with Stargate, Buffy and Farscape to name but a few happy to use the same theme.

(*) if not, Please do check out Darkness Rising ;) in the links below

Jean mentioned that 'The Reflection' Universe was mentioned in a few places, is there a listing of where its talked about? just to have something to work with.

Probably can't have the Fed ships flying upside down and painted green.. since thats been done already.

I was thinking more nacelles in the front, and the saucer section in the rear for Feds, not sure about a paint scheme yet.

There are a few threads on the ADB bulletin board

http://www.starfleetgames.com/discus/messages/12031/23363.html

but it appears to be pretty dead over there..........

Not a ADB employee but I can make a couple of observations for you.

The Reflection Setting would use all the exsisting ships, planets, and personalities as already seen in the SFU. Its the exsisting setting with a few wrinkles. Things like the obvious Terran type Empire but to counter that shift one of the exsisting Empires has a polar shift like the logical vulcans lost the civil war and fled to establish a more logical and advanced empire where the romulans exsisting now. They probably came up with the Hawk series of ships much sooner and never bought Klingon surplus. Also the extinct Paravian Empire probably won they war with the Gorns and now occupy the current Gorn area. The few Gorn refugees that survived probably asked for asylum with the new Vulcan's.

This setup would kept the reflections universe very similar to the main setting but changed things up a bit. Creating whole new empires or starting to reimage current ships while cool should probably shy away from the reflections tag and just be called a purposed alternate setting. I look foreward to seeing what you come up with.

Da Boss saying a topic is dead on the ADB website is kind of a reach. What has happened is there are about a dozen projects in front of it that either A) Are closer to being finished or B) Have a much higher earning potential and so get more attention than a cool ideal that needs to be framed from the ground up.

The Reflection Universe's main problem is that there are many, many points in SFU history in which things could have gone very differently and resulted in a radically different history. Few people can agree on exactly they want to see in an alternate universe for the SFU.

There appear to be lots of alternate timelines in the SFU, but the only one that's been detailed AFAIK is the alternate timeline which the USS Darwin visited. In that universe, the various Galactic fleets did not discover the secret of the Andromedan Rapid Transit Network until it was too late, and the Andromedans basically won...

Hmm I understand that ADB does not consider it a priority but if the community only posts four posts in two years its only just alive I would say..........

It seems to me to be a project thats unlikely to be a money earner for the company and so needs to be something someone absolutely wants to do and will make the decisions as to what they want in it.

I have not seen many "commitee" projects work very well in this area without one leader. Similar game projects I have undertaken have been pretty much my baby or I have produced specific chapters/ sections for other peoples projects.
