I have a dilemma. I am demo'ing the game, and frequently the questions come up: where do I get the rulebook, and/or should I wait until the second edition? I don't really know what the best answer is; tell people to buy the flawed first edition with much errata, or tell them to wait until the second edition is printed? On the one hand we get people into the game faster, but they may be ticked at all the errata, or if we have them wait they may not actually buy it later and a potential recruit is lost.
As a related observation, I have noted at least 3 versions of the rules:
Hardback 1st edition with much errata. Had all the available ships at the time.
Mini-rulebook included with some Fleet boxes (Fed, Klingon, Rom I think). No errata incorporated. Has Fed, Klingon, Rom ships only.
Mini-rulebook included with the Gorn/Kzinti fleet boxes, labelled Gorn/Kzinti edition. Has errata incorporated. Has Gorn and Kzinti ships only.
Right now I've been telling potential recruits that they can either get the hardcover rules and add in the errata themselves, or get a fleet box and temporarily use the mini-rules until the 2nd edition comes out. But is there a better answer? And when is the 2nd Edition scheduled to be out?
