Anyone hear about or have an idea if anyone (ADB or Mongoose) is planning for release decals for the new sized ships?

The paint schemes are easy, it is the micro lettering I just can't do :shock:

I tried to look up the web site I had bought old decals through and it seems to be gone.

ADB or Mongoose (or someone) will have to produce new decals. The new minis are slightly larger so any old decals you find won't look quite right.

Hopefully they will be available about the same time as the mini's themselves.

Hopefully indeed. I haven't heard anything about new decals, but then I haven't really been listening for news either...

I'm pretty sure ADB won't be doing any decals, all previous decals have been done by outside people with ADB's permission. Last I heard is that Mongoose were "reconsidering the decision not to do decals". So call that a "maybe".

OK different take on the question.

Many of the painted ships seem to have decals. My new question is where can we get the decals used in the pics?

The Goblin Factory does all kinds of decals. He will also do made-to-order decals. I was at a convention one Friday and asked him about some decals that he did not have. He had 2 sets of them made for me the next morning. All he will need is the size of the decals and an image if he doesn't have one. Drop him a line:

Not sure if Mongoose will be producing decals or not.
Matthew has said they are looking into it, so I assume that menas that they will eventually be producing decals.

I can now, finally say that there will be decals (at least for the Federation) available nearly congruent with the miniatures release.Will McCammon and I have teamed up to provide Starline 2500 scaled decals for the Federation units.

You can see what these decals will look like by looking at the painted prototypes I did for Mongoose here:

These decals are printed on clear, water-slide paper with a high resolution laser-printer.
they will be available in Fleet Box sheets, Squadron box sheets, and as individuals for individual blister packs.
Custom names/hull number will be available.

More information (pricing, lay-out, and ordering information) will be provided later this week.

Currently, only Federation decals are available - but plans are being made to obtain the requisite equipment to produce high-quality, custom decals for all empires.

The basic sheet has combat rings for the war classes... but you'rethe third person to ask for combat rings; so I guess those will also be made available.

Not sure what the rate will be yet. That's one of the things we need to look into.

If it's of any help, both the previous SFU decal producers strongly suggested UPS priority mail for orders to the UK. Cost around £10 to ship a packet of decals IIRC, but it's much safer and much faster so IMO it's worth it.

IMO, its a shame more companies don't produce dry transfer decals. I've always had much better results from them then water transfer.

Given that Mongoose have expressed interest in doing decals once they have the rules and the ships sorted out, I'd be more worried that this might negatively impact their potential sales.

Do we have an idea of when the official decals will be around.

I'm thinking of some serious ship painting when the border boxes and gorns are here and decals at that time would be handy as I can do all the painting etc at once.
