ACTA RIP....

Out of curiosity, does anyone remember when the B5 license expires for Mongoose? Maybe this plays into the decision for the moment?

While I am sad, I for one know my group will keep it alive for a long time to come as we have too many models not to. So anyone who is willing to trek to Lafayette Indiana I'm sure we can get games in somewhere.

aahhhhhhhhhh me got to wait till friday to get payed to get models me need for fleets!

me grimlock kick butt!
me grimlock need new strategy!

I don't believe in getting into debt for models, even though they are the children of my life

Oh will someone think about the children?

I fell like we've been lied to.

For weeks Matt has been telling us all the production and distribution problems were solved.

Instead the whole range is cancelled.

They say the game will be supported in books & S&P, but unless another model company picks up production, this game is dead.

I know folks will continue playing, but games live or die on whether they can attract new blood. No minis means it will be virtually impossible to attract anyone.

While I certainly plan on continuing to play as they haven't gone so far as to invalidate the minis I have, I am sorry to say that this really feels like par for the course with Mongoose. I frequent game stores. I frequent game forums. My ears and eyes are in good working order. I am reasonably fluent in American. Starship Troopers is effectively dead, killed off by Mongoose's own mismanagement. Battlefield Evolution is dead, killed off by Mongoose's pre-paints fiasco. Our local demo guy for both these games has switched to a different sci-fi skirmish game with pre-painted minis.

First we couldn't get minis to the stores and it was a distributor problem--or worse yet, my FLGS owner wasn't competent enough to contact the right people at Mongoose to get B5 directly. THEN we find out it was, in fact, a supplier problem after all (xref State of Mongoose 2008) but that's OK, because the problems are fixed.

Except that they aren't. Now Mongoose is saying that they aren't able to produce any more minis. I suppose that's one way of "fixing" the problem with minis production.

The big question, of course, is how does this whole situation convince me to give Mongoose any more money? I'm not talking about giving them any more B5:ACTA money, I'm talking about giving them any more MONEY AT ALL! Mongoose has been less than honest with us. I shouldn't have believed that it was a distributor issue. I shouldn't have believed that the minis problem was fixed. I don't believe that Mongoose will "bring things back on line in 2009."

Poi (and others) is right, the old blood will keep playing, but without new blood, the game is history.

hmmmmmm......... Centauri players whinning about G'vrahn............. then a mysterious stopping of production.......... I knew they were determined to stop Narn players using the ship but this is OVERKILL

Hey hippie your signature really sucks. I didnt know that racist assholes like you dont get banned from public forums. I really would like to know from which country you are.

If it's just the minis, what's the big deal? Just like Mongoose bought the moulds from AoG, why can't another company by the moulds from MP?

As Matt has mentioned twice on this thread now I think, it is a condition of Mongoose's licence that this cannot happen.

It's only debt if you can't pay the bill when it comes in

Hes Not racist at all. And relax its a quote from a movie. And what does his country of origin have anything to do with it?

I simply can't believe this. I just got back from playing a campaign game of ACTA and find the game has effectively been killed-off (and no I don't believe S&P will be enough to keep it alive without Minis).

Absolutely gobsmacked.

How can you do this to us Mongoose? :?:
