ACTA Can Shadows jump in and out?

Does Shadow hyperspace mastery allow them to jump both into and out of a battle? Regular ships can't because their jump engines need to recharge, but do Shadow vessels have the same restriction?

Wasn't the ruling made (for 1e) that a ship jumping to Hyperspace counted as disengaging, therefore Shadows that phased into Hyperspace also counted as disengaged ? I doubt that it's different in 2e, although I can see your reasoning. That would make them a bit TOO scary !

I'm not asking whether they can jump out and then return, I want to know whether they can begin the scenario in hyperspace, jump in, fight and then withdraw by jumping out.

The rules seem to say no in my opinion.

Hyperspace Mastery says Shadows have to use the IJP! special action to jump in.
It doesn't say that no jump point is needed; it simply says that no jump point counter is placed on the table.
"Entering Realspace" section states that you may not create another jump point for the rest of the battle.

=> Shadows can't jump out if they jumped in.

Actually it says that about entering hyperspace.

The rule for ships entering realspace says that 'it may not create a new jump point for the rest of the battle, as the jump engine requires extensive recharging.' Which is the reason for my uncertainty, since shadows don't have the jump engine trait.

However I'm inclined to agree with you, since it does specify the Shadow ship does create jump points but without counters both for jumping in and out.

Oh yeah, it only mentions having to use the SA when entering hyperspace. So I guess that when entering realspace, you don't have to use the SA. Meaning no "recharge", and you can indeed exit to hyperspace later in the battle using the SA.

However, since the only action a ship in hyperspace can take is IJP!, we can infer a Shadow ship needs to use IJP! to enter jump in.

Conversly Shadow fighters don't need to use IJP!, so they absolutely can't be restricted by having performed the SA to jump in.

I ran out of time yesterday or I'd have corrected my post, that's what happens when I've not had my usual gallon of coffee !

I'd read the Shadow's Hyperspace ability to mean that they are an exception in that they don't actually use the IJP SA to enter the table as normal(no Jump Engines for a start) but "phase" in when activated and so they can jump out again whenever they like. They don't place jump markers as they don't use jump points like everyone else (no vortex) even if they still use the same game mechanic for jumping out.
