ACTA 2E Questions: Wy did (X) change?

Hi all,

Thought I'd start this thread for peoploe to ask why some things changed in 2E. This is not intended as a place to ask what changed, but if tyou notice something has changed and want to know why, maybe one of the playtesters or Mongoose staffers can answer it.

I'll start:

1) Whatever happened to the Manoeuvre To Shield Special Action? No more valiant Drazi taking the bullet for Sheridan????

I think 'Manoeuvre To Shield Special Action' was removed as it was never used, well I have never seen it used in the length of time I've been playing ACTA. I could be wrong.

Yup, seen it used and used it myself, sometimes it's worth it.

LBH

EDIT, the best way to use it is to get your blocking ship close enough to the firing ship so that if it explodes it might take down the shooter with it.

From my 13 or so games in the past 3 months, i used it twice with a sulust and a maximus to protect various ships. Thought it was a little hard to use but nice nonetheless.

A friend of mine used it - he had a whole suqad of suicide Havens ins his Centauri fleet, whose only duty it was to get into the way of anything trying to harm his Primus and Octurions

now there is an intersting variant for someone to make up! :D

Our group used it a lot compared to you guys it seems.
Myself used Maximus to protect Primus ( My rule of thumb was the more rounds your primus fires the more likely you are going to win.)
Nova's protecting Poisedon was common scene.
Guess it depends on your fleet selection, if most of your ships are the same size you wouldn't do it but if you 1 bigger ship & few smaller ones you do use it.

Used to use it against CAFing long-range snipers --- instead of focusing all the firepower to kill one ship outright, it would be diffused, allowing all the ships to survive and thereby close the range. Very effective.

so we nearly upto the end of the 1st page of posts and have one question. not bad at all :D

Considering that most of us don´t have the rules yet (and won´t for quite a while), it´s pretty good, yes! :)

Just because we need more than one question.

Why don't the Narn have a Skirmish level ships with 120/3 for crew and damage, a 20AD Quad Damage Precise Turret Beam with 80" range and 5000 Frazi flights?

I never used it because of how limited and unreliable it seemed to be, though I don't think it should have been dropped.

With only a 1-1-1 ration I need some kind of massive damage, bulwark ship to be guarding a VIP and the only time I could bank in it was if my ship was one of the Aces intercepting fire from the Special Bus of the opponent. Otherwise it seemed that there was more valuable use for my ships and I tended to keep a relatively balanced fleet so no one ship stood out to get hammered down. (In retrospect I can see a couple Solarhawks being escorted by some Warbirds or Sunhawks...)

OK then just to get the ball rolling: Why no interceptors on the Primus?

It does of course give the Sentri fighters something to do now.
