AAR 7.3.14 Federation vs Klingons

We finally got around to another bat rep using the SF ACTA rules. This time we used a set of 'house rules' based on what we have been reading on the ADB website and a couple of changes on the same theme...

Let me know what you think of the house rules.

Thanks - really interesting and well presented report - thanks for sharing.

The ships look great and really like the shields up counter idea :)

The closest target rule is very interesting and will make for some interesting tactical decisions.......

Interesting battle, but the drone rules have been posted on the ADB forums for what feels like about a month now, so you could have used drones, and if you're willing to do some digging around you could find some posts on there about conversion factors to give you the hull and shield values that are being used in their playtesting.

What is it with Klingons always wanting to keep a safe distance in this game. Aren’t they supposed to be the aggressive ones?

Mongol horse archers were less heavily armed and armoured than European mounted knights, but the superior range and agility of the former helped them crush the latter at the battles of Legnica and Mohi.

This kind of fighting style is one of the ways in which Star Fleet Universe Klingons differ from their counterparts in the Paramount/CBS Franchise.

But as JohnDW noted, Klingon (and Kestrel) ships should have revised shield and damage scores in version 1.2, since they will use the same conversion process as other empires when being ported over. For example, the C7's Shield score should go up to 30, since that equals the #2 shield facing on the Squadron Scale Ship Card in Federation Commander.

Other empires, like the Feds, already used their #2 facings in FC as the basis of their own Shield scores in ACtA:SF, but now the Klingons and Kestrels will follow suit rather than have their scores artificially lowered to account for the now-defunct front shield rule.
