A little question about miniatures

Yes, I'll quit buying these pesky collectible Star Wars minis and start buying Lone wolf minis by the bucketload... 8)

I wasn't destined to get Bobba Fett or the Emperor anyway.

I know I'm not making friends saying that but: I would prefer many more PAPER supplements for LW RPG rather than "useless" (please note the ""!!! ) minis... :P

Of course I dont use them in gaming and I'm not a miniature fan... that can explain many things...

Just a thought... the own opinion of a very impatient man (about future supplements, that "big" scenario, and so on...)!

Does August Hahn also sculpt the minis so he has less time writing supplements because of them? I don't think so. Rather I think that the minis don't slow down the "paper supplements" and those supplements don't slow down the minis.

Good point.
But you know... I am allways soooo impatient...

But my question is not so "dumb". Producing minis is a way to inflate a planning without producing "long-to-be-writen" material...
Of course, I know perfectly well that I'm jalous of the Jeremya RPG not even published and with 2-3 supplements allready announced...
[PAF!] Okay, okay, I stop my angry comments now...

Indeed, not only will minis not hurt in any way the books, they just might improve the RPG sales. So we mini lovers might just help you get more supplements, since most of us buys them too.

I'm not your friend anymore...  :P

As for Jeremiah, I'm sure in the long run Lone Wolf will get more content because it is a more developped setting, IMHO. The presence of a mini line is usually a sign of good health for a RPG, methinks.

Okay guys: you won the battle! :D
That's a really good argument for me... and, from that day, that will make me support you "mini lovers"! And that's not a lie!

But, PLEASE, don't forget the paper!

So, Redlaco: friends again? 8)

Of course we're friends, I was only sulking...

And I have to say that I favor the books too, so all in all we're almost in agreement.

Actually even I favour books but I just don't see clash, I'm sure it's not a case of one or the other we can have both. Somehow I can't see Mongoose releasing more than four LW books a year, although I would love to be proved wrong. Jeremiah is being produced by another design studio and only published distributed by Mongoose if I remember right, Lone Wolf is done in house and so is much more likely to compete with Conan and B5. The only time that I can imagine a clash is if they decide to do miniature battle game with a source book. Then there would be a clash, in this case however I would vote for one book of battle rules as it has the scope to bring in more players who aren't RPGers and strengthen the line further. It would aslso be a great opportunity to go into some of the great battles in Magnamund which would provide useful info for the RPG!

I hope that they don't have distribution problems and the line sells well so we see more minis. I had a search on the web for some proxies for minis that have not been produced or announced, but I found that LW is quite distinctive and the minis out there just don't cut it... :?

WinterWolf who is very happy with the minis and will be picking up a fist full or two at the Mongoose open day. Then looking around for a UK online supplier for some more. :D

EDIT Also the fact that the minis make the line look 'bigger than it is' and bulks it out is an advantage, many people don't buy from small lines or ones that they feel arn't being supported. I think the minis show commitment to the Lone Wolf and will encourage more people to buy into it.

Interresting.
I didn't know that. I thought (and feared) that LW was a "low priority" compared to TV-based new RPG like Jeremiah.
I'm on the way of being reassured... :)

IMO, 3-4 new supplements a year for LW is enough new material to work with, considering August is the only one working on the line right now. Fewer supplements would mean more attention devoted to each of them, thus we get better quality material. Don't try to rush Mongoose into releasing sub-par material, that would simply spell the end of the line.

I totally agree columbob 3-4 supplements a year and 8-9 blisters a year to release in the months in between.

Having said that if Mongoose can find a way to increase output without losing the August touch we have come to expect I would buy every month. I guess I'm just hungry to get through the core rules expansion that I think we need first and see some regional source books.

I find it's a good exercise in patience, plus with all my other interests...I can fill the down time with plenty of stuff already! I have too many hobbies...
