1. The max stat is max stat dice +3 (ie for humans 21). Is it possible to
go over this with at all, ie, can the man/earth rune raise stats over
this? As characters advance, can there stats go over this limit, particularly
at Heroic or Legendary levels?

2. If someone has 21 POW and uses 5 POW to store Divine spells, they have a current POW of 16. If they get a POW increase, are they allowed it? Also once the deivine are cast I would assume the pow is lost for good.

3. What is the cost of a condition in POW, re enchantments. Why would people do it, makes it harder, is there a cost reduction (ie 1 less POW) for it, That would kind of make sense.

I would say yes. I don't think the rules specify this but RQ has always had room for the extraordinary. Of course, your stat would have to already be at 21 to go over it with the bonus from rune integration - unless you houserule that integrating the rune raises the species maximum by 1.

The POW is NOT permrnantly lost - dedicated POW is in effect 'on hold'. It is 'regained' as soon as the spell is cast. This is explicit in the rules.

I am pretty sure that the POW increase roll is NOT based on your effective POW but your real POW, so that you would not be able to gain a POW increase if your POW was 21, regardless of how many Divine Spell Points you have. I will check this in the rules when I get a chance, but if it isn't there that is how I'd always interpreted it.

There is no cost in POW for conditions, only the skill penalty. The reasons for doing this are many - you may want to make a weapon only wieldable by yourself, or members of your cult for example, or that Trolls cannot use. The reasons are all for game flavor though, there is no rules benefit from adding conditions.

Welcome to the board by the way. :)

Hello, and welcome. I'd also like to comment on the strange combination of Poll and Questions.

What a delightfully strange combination.

FWIW, I never took to Gemmel's writing at all. There were characters 'turning on their heels' every other page, it did my head in. I even TRIED it once, and it did my ankle in.

Love the old spin on heel and elbow in his face

The reason for the questions is that I am running a xmas all day spectacular for some pals as we only get together on mass at xmas (living away etc da da da

anyway the premise is The Magnificent Seven, 7 drenai heroes return for one last stand. Using the RQ Legendary Heroes book, the chaps are putting together Druss, Skilgannon, Dardalion, Decado, Waylander, Finn and Antikas Karios. Anyway stats at 21 plus runes = 22 stat. So wondered on the rules.

The source if considered divine would cost Temp POW, obviously affect skills etc.

So any ideas would help.
cheers

ps it is quite difficult to put together a Legendary character as written, 5 skills @150, no more than 125 in 1 skill, 700 points. You really have to think about skills and abilities.

Honestly, if the characters are supposed to be badass, let them be badass. 1 point more in a stat wont break the system.

EDIT: To answer your questions though:

1. The max stat is max stat dice +3 (ie for humans 21). Is it possible to

As far as I know, that is, indeed, the max possible. No exceptions, but see above :)

2. If someone has 21 POW and uses 5 POW to store Divine spells, they have a current POW of 16. If they get a POW increase, are they allowed it? Also once the deivine are cast I would assume the pow is lost for good.
The POW points arent lost permanently (unlike 3rd edition). They are "held" while you have the spell in mind. Once you throw it, you recover the POW immediately, and magic points as per normal rules.

3. What is the cost of a condition in POW, re enchantments. Why would people do it, makes it harder, is there a cost reduction (ie 1 less POW) for it, That would kind of make sense.
No change in POW. Conditions are mostly for specific items. f.x., if you want to go hunt trolls, make a powerfull weapon that only hurts trolls. If you get disarmed, it wont come back to haunt you as badly :)
