A Cry for Help

Mongoose
I have a few problems with the Mongoose ST line.
I am an established wargamer, and have worked with many plastic kits before.
However, the sheer difficulty of the MI Starship Troopers minis is impossible to understand.
I have a question to this point.
How, in all that is sacred, do you assemble a trooper holding his rifle with both arms? None of the arms fit, and severe filing is needed just to get the Morita to fit the body!
I do want to play this wargame. It looks promising and has great potential for modelling. I just want to assemble a basic trooper though.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There is a guide on how to build them somewhere on this forum, Im sure someone will post it soon. I have managed them to fit, but unfortunately, the plastics arent really up to standards, but a little greenstuff can really help. If you are'nt too good at greenstuffing, you can do the joint and cover most of it with a shoulderplate.

Good luck.

Two Handed weapons with separate arms are fiddly whatever you do and there are worse figures than the plastic MI about, but I won’t mention names to protect the guilty. This is a trick I developed for those other figures I don’t need to do it with MI plastics but it will help.

Glue the Morita onto the Right arm with super glue as I find plastic cement doesn’t work so well with the plastic the MI are made of. Let that go off thoroughly then position the arms with a tiny blob of green stuff on each shoulder and on the palm of the left hand which cradles the grenade lancer position the arms and move them about to give the best fit and rely on the tackiness of the green stuff to glue them together. Leave them to go off over night and check the fit of the left hand and adjust it as required. One thing to remember is that the is that the under slung grenade lancer is quite chunky so most of the figures will end up with it resting on the flat of the hand.

If you don’t like them you can avoid the plastics for the most part as Mongoose do a lot of Metal figures in this range many of which are one piece castings (Veteran cap troopers, heroes of the Federation baring the Lieutenant female MI Power suit specials) the only things which are not available from that list are Javelin launchers and your a bit stuck if you fancy collecting a pathfinder based army.

I hope that helps if not PM me and I will do them for you free as there is some sort of holiday coming up and one is supposed to be nice to people I understand.
