500 Point Game

If presented with a choice and assuming going after one target versus another doesn't leave me spectacularly vulnerable, I'll usually choose the surest kill over the bigger threat. It is still very early in my learning curve on this game but at 1,000 points, an initiative sink is a big deal and at 500 it is huge. Early on, all things considered, a quick kill on a couple of F-5's or E-4's pays huge dividends in later turns.
At least in ACTA: B5 that was the same tactic I went for (and I guess even with the differences
ACTA: SF isn't different enough in order for that tactic would loose it's effectiveness).

So first one to go: Easiest kills, then the big shooters. And then the biggest shooters.

I only have acta: B5 experience as I'm waiting for the rulebook to be delivered at last,
but I think the experiences from there are still mostly valid at least from what I read
so far about acta: SF

Pick the best target in range and arc that you can Kill.

Don't fire a bunch of shots because you may be able to drop the shield and do some damage.

Ships can repair crits and boost shields if you leave them damaged and allow them to run off and hide for a few turns. Kill or cripple them in one go if at all possible.

If needs be concentrate fire from 3-4 ships onnto 1 to accomplish that. Each enemy that is destroyed can't fire back anymore.

Yep.

Every Drone in the Fleet goes at a target, all the photons or disruptors you can manage etc. The fleet should be engaging fleet targets rather than a furball where small numbers of ships are fighting each other while other groups of ships are fighting each other etc.

See the Photon chat for the 24 photons on a single target idea
