5 Point War again...

Mongoose
O.K. we will be playing a 5 point war annihilation scenario again but it won't involve the Shadows or the Minbari (as we used them last time) and no more than 20 ships each side. The fleet can be as cheesy as you want it although it should be geared towards beginners. I have picked my fleet, so can you help out my friend with his fleet? I need impartial and more experienced help :)

Sincerely,

Andrew Norris

20 Whitestars is an outstanding build if cheese isn't a concern. Take 'em now before they get boresighted (hopefully!)

At that big a game Whitestars aren't that great as there simply aren't that many places to hide, and your biggest advantage goes away. Now once the battle whittles down some you should win if you can keep parity until the battle gets small.

Ripple

20 Dag'Kar.
If at first you don't succeed, try saturation nuclear bombardment.

On a more serious note, what fleet does he want to try?
Other than the ones you've noted, Vorlons and Crusade Era EA come into their own in big priority games.

Vorlon fleet:

Heavy Cruiser (just because everyone should get to use a Vorlon heavy cruiser's forward guns at some point*)

4 Destroyers (Nippy little so-and-sos with nice beam weapons)

1 mixed point of Transports and Fighters (Transports for some pleasantly durable initiative sinks - not that you need too many with manouvrable forward arc beams - and fighters because Vorlon Fighters are officially the canine's genitalia)

* Except our resident beam-fiend. After killing a young shadow ship outright in one 6AD beam shot he is officially banned from taking Heavy cruisers ever.

My choices

Adira, Liati, Balvarian, Demos, Maximus, Primus, Balvarian, Demos, Kutai, Haven (x2), Primus, Elutarian, Demos, Maximus

:D

Hmmm- 20 Targraths.........

Pakmara -
5 Hurr Gunships(pak)
5 Halik(pak)
10 Pak Ikorta

56 TD torps, Plenty of Mines for pesky fighters, and a heck of a lot of DD heavy Plasma Cannons.

Dave

20 Drazi Firehawks.

Shimmy shimmy BOOM!

Except if it's me rolling the beam dice, at which point it becomes shimmy oops fsst...

20 Shadow Scouts in a game in which hyperspace is allowed. The whole lot jumps in among the middle of the Dag'Kars, who will then do more damage to each other than to the Scouts if they start letting off their fireworks.

My choice:

3 pts--3G'Vrahn (squadroned)

1 point: 3 Dag Kar's (squadroned); 2 Thenti (Thentuses?)

1 Point: 1 Dag Kar, 2 Var'Nic, 1 Scout, 4 Sho Kos? (Torpedo Variant)

Emines & Beams, and more Emines & Beams.

For the comedy approach of seeing if your opponent can actually kill them , or just gets bored and wanders off, try a mix of 20 T'Loth / T'Rann.

I can totally see this:

50 turns into the game the ohter player just opens jump points and leaves

I had the challange of trying to stop a t'loth in a blockade scenario a few weeks ago. I beamed it, shot it, straffed it with fighters, knocked 4inches off its speed, and it still sailed off the table. Talk about a damage sponge.

5 point war eh?

Well... I would go with one of two fleets.

Crusade era EA

2 Warlocks

2 Marathons

2 Apollos

7 Chronos frigates+replace the Warlocks fighters with Firebolts

If your fighting minbari drop one of the Apollos for 2 Delphis

...or...

3rd age EA

2 Command Omegas

4 Omegas

2 Avengers+2 Hyperions
