200t J3 merchant design

Fast Trader? Expected more than Thrust 1... Basically a 'Farther Trader'. ;)

Might want to add TL (and TL advantages from HG) of design. Gunner would be optional, but might want to throw in a Cargo Robot as standard fare...

In this area of space gunners are optional if you if you don't want mail and are on friendly terms with pirates. YMMV

In terms of interstellar trade, speed is measured in parsecs/week as opposed to, hours to 100D limit. ;)

When it absolutely, positively has to be there in a week...

Fire Control software can work as gunner, and...

Added thrust would probably work better 'against' pirates than two double laser turrets. ;)

Jump 'speed' is only important and 'faster' if the route requires farther jumps.

Yes, but I like someone on sensors and available as a floater. As far as a little added thrust, no. You'd need a lot more than you'd want to add unless the pirate's ship was particularly anemic. Pirates aren't interested in getting shot up. (See historic pirate info)

See ship description and info on travel times per parsec for various J-drives...

So, a Gunner with Sensor skill? ;)

A 2 parsec jump takes the same basic time for a J-2 ship vs a J-3 or greater one.

Umm, yes. Problem?

I'm sorry you don't understand the definition of speed. In this limited forum I can't administer basic EDU to people.

Besides understanding speed and English, I also understand manners...

Sorry to have offended you :(, but this is a public forum.

It would have a hard time making a mortgage as a full mortage with monthly costs getting on for Kcr 450 and income without spec trading under Kcr300.

Do you intended for use as subbies where there is no mortgage or were you thinking of shipping lines who could buy them outright? As frontier subbies with a subsector or so to range across they would work well as long as they were required to visit each world no more than two or three times in a year allowing them to go where the money is and avoid the charity runs as much as possible

You can add a few more staterooms to improve income by Kcr24 per month per stateroom but you are stuck with the likely low passenger numbers on a frontier with low pop worlds. In fact the more I look at it the more it looks like a frontier subby with an AoO of a subsector.

Or do you get a complimentary broker 5 in the low berth with every ship :D

Part "subbie" with the gov taking % of spec which has a better # of choices due to the range. It ends up being a $ source for some gov's as they finance at 0% interest. Yes, ranging across one or more subsectors cherry picking. Out right corp purchase is also something that is done in my game as they pay 50% less than financed purchases...

Well, with only a dTon of civilian kludge to work with, you're not going to bother hiring an ex-navy sensor operator, are you?

Pretty good for operating in risky areas - the layer of bonded SD is a bit of a surprise on a ship that has only civilian weapons and equipment on it, but what the hell - it leaves you effectively immune to missiles and light lasers that (hopefully) will be the only things thrown at you - especially with plenty of point defence.

Looks good. As others have said it is a bit pricey for general trading, but that's not the niche it's serving. Find somewhere with a J-3 gap between prime trading worlds and it should make its money well enough.

Yep, all it takes is a few key worlds at J3 and you have it made as one of the only games in town.
