Delhi class British CL - 12 Dice?

It makes no sense at only one dice of secondary - it's namesake ship would have an effective AA of 6 while the Delhi AA cruiser would have only 4. It should probably be secondary 1, AA 5 or 6 to make any sense.

Delhi class British CL - 12 Dice?

This has to be a printing error. No CL has 12 dice of secondary weaponry - that's more than any BB in teh game!

Yet another ship poll, the DEMOS!

I am quite literally amazed more of you don't find the Demos to be totally broken. It is quite literally one of the two most potent skirmish level ships in the game. It is fast, manuverable, high close-in and potent ranged firepower. Plus an incterceptor! You can concentrate fire with its...

    Neutered Shadows?

I have a shadow fleet. Overall, very tricky to play, but cool. First, the terrain issue is a must. Most CTA scenarios don't allow hyperspace entry, which neuters one of your race's best assets. You need a couple of asteroid fields, gas clouds, etc. to hop out and back out of line of site of...

Thoughts on 2e... Game favors fleets of smaller ships. Why?

I appreciate the dialog on economics - at least it is a legitimate answer to why the 2e changes reward fleets of smaller priority ships. Some playtesters are admitting it, why doesnt Matt? The game favors swarm tactics. It always did, and now it does even more so under 2e. It is still a fun...

Thoughts on 2e... Game favors fleets of smaller ships. Why?

The G'Vrahn rocks, I will give you that. But it would still be the same result. 40 Demos fire 240 precise SAP shots turn one. Even if all of them failed to concentrate firepower, that's 120 precise hits. And that is assuming that the Demos arent in range of their 400 double damage twin linked...

Thoughts on 2e... Game favors fleets of smaller ships. Why?

This thread has wandered off my original topic, so I will try again: 2E favors fleets of smaller ships more than 1e. You can't ignore that this is true for two simple reaons: 1. THe PL system now makes it easier to get more smaller ships for the same battle point than it did in SFOS. 2. The...

    Fighters as interceptors, which episode?

Other than flying in front of a beam, how does a fighter "intercept" one?

    All Stop & Pivot question.

What difference does it make? Any turn greater than 90 has the exact same effect in game terms, right?

Thoughts on 2e... Game favors fleets of smaller ships. Why?

First off, thanks for all the replies. I didn't really expect to touch-off such a passionate response! I think some of you - Matt included - missed the point of my original post. I wasn't arguing that taking swarm fleets was a cheesy tactic. Frankly, I think the idea of a mass of PT boats...

Thoughts on 2e... Game favors fleets of smaller ships. Why?

Now having played with 2e for a while, I have to wonder what the developers were thinking. The system now even more rewards fleets of lots of smaller priority ships. It used the be that big ships frequently had lots of SAP big beams. But beams are now less effective against smaller ships, and...

    What happened to the Narn???????

My Narna fleet plays much tougher under 2e than it did before. The Varnic is now totally right for its slot. The 2 for 1 patrol boats with torpedos make a nice init sink, helping to offset all those bore site weapons. ANd the Dag-kar, with only one launcher but triple dammage slow loading can be...

    Demos - Crazy overpowered?

Am I the only one who thinks this ships is stupidly broken? A Skirmish level ship with Speed 14, agile, 2 turns, Hull 5, Interceptor, and more firepower than most raid ships?!? I have been running some 6 pt patrol scenarios against a fleet containing just 3 Demos and nothing I can come up with...

Player fighting more than one batter per Campaign Turn?

Allowing the next players in initiative order to "intercept" the higher initiative player and still get their turn to choose an action has lots of benefits. It increases the strategic risks of splitting your fleet between too many attacks; it also generates more battles per campaign turn. My...

    Too many fleets with interceptors?

I find the interceptor rules to be one of my least favorite things about B5CTA. They add an unecessary complexity to the game - keeping track of which ship is where on its interceptor roles can be a nightmare in bigger games. Plus it SL O W S down game play way too much. And the fact that...
