Hm, as far as I remember there is no code of honour for pirates. I would suggest the rogue code of honour (honour among thieves). It is in Signs and Portents 13

Some spells are good, some are bad. But usually they fit into the sorcery style, and they have prerequisites. The khitan spells look like they were only hastily written and then they were not finalized.

Well, after reading the magic section in the newest sourcebook I am a bit confused. There are spells for three Sorcery styles. (Oriental Magic, Necromancy, Summoning). Many spells seem to be of the wrong style, and I miss many prerequisites. Especially spells of the Oriental Magic Style...

Well, it is not forbidden, so I would say he can "push the rules". With the old Defensive Blast I houseruled that the sorcerer has always to push the rules when using Defensive Blast, and he also risked Runaway Magic. (So a player would usually not abuse Defensive Blast)

My wild guess is that the current Conan sorcery system could be ported over to RuneQuest with relative ease. In fact, our GM (Sven, who is also on these boards) has already done so. As I never get tired of telling, my group has been playing RuneQuest in Conan's setting for a dozen years or so...
