    Catch Me Up

I've been away for a while. As I see it now, B5 ACTA is gone. Gone, Baby, Gone. What's to happen to all my fleets and all my rules hopes? Give me the short form of the situation if you can.

    Will P&P address PL?

    Call it Bulk.

    Will P&P address PL?

I think a "Bulk" (Redundancy) score would be the best solution still. If people are still squemish about them, allow the crit to come through and score the additional crew and damage wreckage just ignore the first couple of effects. I don't think this would do enough to help big ships, but it...

    Will P&P address PL?

We always do CBD like l33. It just makes the game go faster. I don't how doing it by weapon system does anything other than slog down the game.

No Trek. There's already a Trek game.

    Will P&P address PL?

These ideas are good but will slow down the game too much. The solution has to be easy and quick. So I propose either: A: all attacks for a ship are rolled, taking note of potential crits (precise crit on 6+ regardless), all damage is calculated and if it crosses the threshold, crit away. OR...

    Will P&P address PL?

Yes, why not? Got to draw the line somewhere. Think of it as representing a hellish volley of nastiness that just breaks the ship into pieces. It would then be the same as if the rule weren't implemented, but there would be the chance - AND big ships would shrug off the first far reaching Demos...

    Will P&P address PL?

Easy. You score all the hits from the entire attack, noting how many critical hits were achieved. If the damage exceeds the threshold, roll for the crits as normal. If they don't then all the critical hits are just ignored. The normal "solid hit damage" would still count, just no table stuff...

    Will P&P address PL?

Arghhhh..... The initiative problem (if there is one) isn't the problem this thread is looking at. It's how to make big ships as good as their lesser counterparts. I don't care if I lose initiative to a swarm - that I'll give them. I just want my War ship to be able to have a chance against 2...

I'm afraid to admit it but I know I do. I told you that already....

    Will P&P address PL?

The problem isn't Swarms, per se. The problem is that big ships are unattractive choices because they don't hold up. Squadroning might help initiative, but 1 ship is never a better choice than 2 ships as things stand now. Even the WS Gunship which is arguably exactly equal to 2 whitestars is...

    Will P&P address PL?

I like the idea of Redundancy (Bulk) allowing the ship to ignore the first few Crits, but here's another idea stolen from D&D 4th. Bloodied. The idea is that a ship - any ship - needs to be "softened" up before any real damage can be done (crits). To represent this, we look to the damage points...
