As your Characteristics get reduced by damage, remember to update your Characteristic Modifiers.

Thanks ! But so player using ranged weapons can always choose to be hit on their strength rating, thus not lose effectiveness wheh wounded ?

If they want. Depends on how your group role-plays characters. It's not like they're going to live long enough to worry about it much. Someone who's weak can't really carry all their stuff anymore or throw much of a punch. Some players would rather die with some strength left rather than dexterity. I think you go unconscious if you lose two characteristics anyway. So ranged weapons won't get much use at that point.

 thanks, only one scenario played so far, and it wasn't involving combat, so I have no tested the "lethalty" of it.

When STR goes down, you better think before opening up with full auto and I bet you wish your weapon had less recoil. See recoil and heft on page 61.

Also keep in mind the huge melee effects of endurance going down. A single melee attack when END is 0 will fatigue a character. A second attack and you fall unconscious! Read about this under fatigue on page 74.

Next, "OMG, I'm so f'ed up I can't even lift my rifle!" Losing END and STR will effect encumbrance. See page 104.

It does occur to me that every wound, or injury does not affect all aspects of your ability. Some injuries say, breaking a leg/foot, wouldn't affect your Eye hand coordination.( ability to fire a ranged weapon)

penalty form a wound does not have to be one that reduces combat modifiers. A penalty from a wound could simply be you are limping along rather than running ..or you have to have your friends carry your kit rather than lugging it across the field.

You don't have to have everything that happens to the character have a direct impact on his ability to fire a weapon swing a punch. Secondary penalties, role playing obstacles, etc.. are just as good. Sometimes it's the non combat "fluff" that has to reflect the drawbacks of getting beat senseless, or shot in the foot.

As a Referee you can influence you players to play out injuries, wounds, and such. It is YOUR game...if they want to shrug off being down to 2 end, and 1 str, while having their full dex...that's a player issue, not a rules issue.

wow thanks, these things have slipped out my first reading (and the page are not the same in french edition), it change everything.

My next scenario will likely involve a little fire exchange, and I like games where combat is VERY lethal.

Thanks for your help
