Worlds and moons.

Possible terrain.

No idea what the quality is like as Shapeways can be a bit poor but I have not seen these pre coloured ones before.

A handy set of the entire solar system.

i saw them on the scn forum, were a person provided a link, they look great i'm tempted to order one next month, for my gaming.

When you look at the size scale reference on the picture link they are rather small, most of the planets are the size of bottle cap or smaller.

there is another set that comprise of earth 50mm, mars 27mm, and the moon 13mm, it's about the same amount for the solar system set.

I thought I'd have a little experiment with making a planet this weekend. Went out and paid a whopping £1.00 for a 4" diameter polystyrene ball. Sprayed it, ended up with a 3.5" Vesta sized, and shaped Minor Planet. My wife laughed and laughed at me...

NB do not spray paint polystyrene even with an acrylic paint.

Oh well back to the paint table with another one next weekend, and a host of poster paints, to put the first layers on. You learn by your mistakes.

Styrofoam ball and ModgePodge for the win. :) I've only done one planet so far, but it worked out pretty decently.

I found at Hobby Lobby (if you have any of these locally) styrofoam balls with a very tight cell size. A little light sanding takes away the surface texture quite well (there's a mold line down the middle), and there is a small hole on the bottom that perfectly takes one of the old style big stands. There isn't a huge variety of sizes, but I got a couple of 3" balls, and there were some 10" half-spheres there as well IIRC.

Damon.

Mine are prepainted vac formed from The Plastic Guys. Inexpensive and stack able

cool pics, i like the kzinti ships in light purple.

I think that's pink with Hello Kitty decals on the Kzinti ships.

thanks, it still looks good, i think, when i get my kzinti, there will three squads, blue, white and traditional red.

For some country or other, yes. French or Dutch would be easy formations. British would be a bit trickier. Good luck trying to form up a US flag. :)
