Wiz Kids at it again..!!! from land and now Sea....!!!!!

Just found out about wizkids now A&A game, its War at sea using 1/800 scale ships with turrets that move...!!!

It looks like they are copying mongoose and their great idea, so it looks like its battles on the waves for 2007....!!

Mongoose have a great set of rules, and if you like to do it on the floor, just nick Wizkids ships..!!!

It sounds pretty cool too. I don't have a lot of time to assemble minis maybe that'd be the way to go for those of us who don't have the time to paint and assemble minis.

I seriously doubt I'll be playing this. if it is 1/800 it takes the ship models out of the VaS range. I won't have a problem not buying any.

yeah, 1/800 carriers would be "colossal" figures easliy...that scale doesn't sound correct.

Yes, 1/700 is the common modelling scale, big ships can be up to a foot long!

No pictures of the ships, but wizkids have a stat card of a aircraft carrier on their site....

Look forward to using them with Vas of course.....

Also the rules are up for the star wars space battle game.. not bad, but if 2 of the biggest ships go head to head, about 3 turns of shooting would destroy one of them.., so small ships like star destroyers better hide..

That attitude is more than a little arrogant though LDD, lets not kid ourselves shall we, little model starships we move around the table are toys too, just beacues we paint them doesnt make them more grown up

I personally prefer making and painting my own fleets but that doesnt mean other games like this cant be alot of fun too

Sure they're toys, but they're big boy's toys...

What I mean is, randomised pre-painted models with stat cards and such like are a totally different game to anything MGP produces, and comparing them is like putting apples next to oranges. I'd rather pay more and have models I built and painted myself, and choose what I get, than buy cheap, pre-painted, randomised models. Especially from a company like Wiz Kids...

Avalon Hill own the 'Axis & Allies' name, WizKids have licensed it to produce a seemingly endless line of mediocre collectable minis games.

Bloody awful aircraft, decent tanks, mixed bag of infantry.

Hmm... if the 'planes are any good they might be handy. 1/3000 is just way too small...

Yeah, well, I still think someone could compete head to head with Wizards on the minis as they are ususally so bad. I mean, brown Russian tanks? Hellcats larger than King Tigers? Grey Tigers? The list is endless. Those guys seemed determined to prevent historical mini gamers from using their product. I'm confident you guys would have done us right!

il judge when i got one in my hand i think.

to be honest il probably play flatpack to begin with as i dont get as much time to mini game as i like, and im limited to 3 Mini game sytems, one will always be warmachine/hordes, the other is FOW , SST collection is near finished for me now and il exchange that for BF evo probably. i can see VAS tandoming with FOW for me.

Just all depends on if we get a russian fleet to use along side my fow russians, then we can get a full campain going at my ,local historical games club,

if MP do a soviet list this game will hit big time with FOW players trust me, .. why... because nearly every other comapny who do a decent fleet game ignor the soviets.....or dont do them justice.
