Mongoose
Well, this topic was erased by the Virus, so I thought I would start it back up.

More ships, with Adv. or Hooks, If Traders & gunboats is the same 20 oft reprinted ship, I certaianly will not be purchasing.

Someone replied to my previous post, but the Virus got it also, so please curiousity is killing me, repost it.

Solomani Forever! Service to the State, Glory to the Race!

Scenario packs, detailed world settings for the Marches, campaigns and campaign background. The 'High Guard', 'Mercenary' etc etc line and 'Traders and Gunboats' etc is unlikely to appeal to old fans who have probably got at least one copy of such stuff anyway. The CT stuff is still readily available and the GURPs supplements are generally great value for money. Actual NEW scenarios and subsector, campaign detail to get people PLAYING again seems the way forward. A new alternate Imperial setting beyond the Spinward Marches or Solomani Rim maybe. Extensive detailed on sub-sectors that haven't had much official treatment within the Marches, that kind of thing.

Yes, adventure and campaigns which can be played without too much work by the ref. I only have time to either prepare OR play. Format used in the Quicklinks Interactive Linkwords scenario and others is excellent - a cluster of worlds to explore with a story arc, adventures and encounters on each world and extra jobs, patrons etc.

I think the definitive equipment book would be nice. Lots of stuff for various environments as well. I mean equipment, not just a goods book.

Dunno about Mongoose (they say there's a lot of stuff in Mercenary, and, I guess, by extension, in High Guard), but I am working on one. One that will bring Traveller tech into at least the early 21st century, from the early 1950's :o

(Why "at least the early 21st century?" ... well, I know from the work I did on Space Opera, many years ago, and in updating it privately for my own playing group, that predicting what technology is likely to be capable of in the near future ... 5 years or more ... and what technologists think technology will be capable of and how that estimate changes ... is ... not easy. Not even close.)

Currently I'm working on updating survival oriented stuff (food, water, shelter), but I also have some tools and electronics updates being worked on as well.

One thing that I am considering is something that no-one has, afaik, to date, in any SFRPG ... the idea of convergence ... see, I had to buy a new mobile phone recently (don't like the things ... work of the devil ... mean bosses think you're available 24/7 ... and I'm a teacher for ghu's sake!) and it was virtually impossible to find one that was just a mobile phone. PDA + Camera + FM Radio + MP3 Player ... you get the idea.

So why assume that, in the future, digital appliances will be any different?

Yet, to date, everyone has.

Phil

Great, I would love to see what you come up with. Too often the gear books I see tend to be gun books with a little gear included. I think a game like Traveller should/could have a lot of room for other equipment as well.

I played in a game world a whiel ago that the GM had taken this to some extreems for fun. Each player had a personal assistant robot that was their computer/database/valet/cook/entetainment center/communications device/maid/nag/bodyguard it was odd at times. The GM had fun having our little guys bug us and get in the way at odd times etc.

I liked the suggestion in the original thread of Star Trek for an alternate line. I don't know if I'd even run it, but I'd like to read a well done Star Trek game including all the series, in a system I like. The new movie is coming out next year, it would be good timing.

Another alternate setting I would be interested in is early FTL space exploration. The Interstellar Wars period from Traveller would be okay, but done already by GURPS. I'd rather see something new and not related to Traveller history. Something with an Aliens, Bladerunner, Outland, Supernova feel.

For 3I, I'd like a good slew of adventures. I'm partial to games with lots of good adventure support anyways (WFRP, CoC) and I'm new to the Sci-Fi RPG genre so it would be doubly welcome.

I also would like to see an equipment book that contained actual equipment. I would also like to see a bigger selection of weapons and armor as well.

I would like to see supplements for the following items, so if people don't want to include them in their campaign they don't have to:

  • 1. Rules on advance cybernetics
    2. Rules on poisons
    3. A separate supplement for each of the major races that would include a nice fold out sector map, different ship designs to show the uniqueness of each major race, equipment, psionics, minor races in the aliens sector, and of course the life style stuff. What they have in the core rule book is very little, and I use it to show the alien races as if they had defected to the Imperium or are second and third generation aliens in the Imperium.
    4. A supplement or two describing the minor races in the Imperium and/or the other charted major alien races.
    5. Supplement that covered robots and artificial intelligence. It could also include more on ships computers and personal computers.
    6. Supplement that contained creatures of different worlds.
    7. An alien race that went **bump** in the night! You know the kind you fear like the Reavers from Firefly; the really scary looking ones like the Aliens and Predators.
    8. Adventures and a lot of them. It is nice to buy one, read, make changes if needed, and run it for a group of friends.

SciFi is such a broad area unlimited possiblities ... :D

In my case it would be:

- equipment (not weapons)
- robots and computers
- planetary vehicles (e.g. watercraft)
- alien plants and animals (a "bestiary")

I want to see;

i) GM screen
ii) PROOF READING

Ahh, the GM screen, the player side of which should just look like the side of the A-Team's van, to be inkeeping with the main book's cover.

Fantasy Traveller, AKA Wanderer.

Are there not enogth Fantasy rules systems that already don't work or sell?Concentrate on getting a good SF Setting, because there are NONE out there right now. Please...

Well, the advantage of a Traveller based Fantasy setting is you can use the deadly combat and simple task system of Traveller on a low tech world.

I would expect the Psionics would be the basic model for "magic" but there is nothing preventing an actual magic system being created to work with Traveller.

If you like the Traveller RULES, then setting (even Fantasy ones) are where the growth is.

Well as traveler has a HUGE range of game and campaign types that can be run, and because I know it is often played as a play-by-email or play-by-forum post game or otherwise played online I have a few things on my wish list.

I would like a pdf release focusing on running traveler as an Online game, not just a pdf of a book, but a pdf formatted and written to be used online on a computer screen.

Along with that a free or low-cost rules summary on pdf that can be given and sent to players for online games, and for character generation out of session as it is hard to do char gen with four people in the room, one using the book and the other three getting bored.

I would also like a book with more info on working with stats from other traveler systems, I know this may be difficult given licensing but conversion guides would help as there is a massive amount of good Traveler Material out there.

I'd like for-print pdfs. PDFs with maps, stand up and counter minis, and record sheets.

Finally one of my biggest wants is a complete skill listing including available specialties (Or at least those used in the books).

A big, well organized book on the rebellion era and the Diaspora sector would be my Traveller dream.

This could be pretty cool especially if it weren't just another fantasy RPG but was actually fantasy Traveller with rules for building towns and villages instead of planets and trading and whatnot.

Which is what we're (admittedly quite sporadically) working on.

I would like to see a resource adventure created based in a single system, with deep amounts of details for each and every orbit in that system and tons of possible plots and subplots. Also have leads to other systems with little blurps of plot leads. Now a adventure resource like that would show all what could be done and what should be done.
