Why aren't there any Upcoming Releases for Conan?

The King

Cosmic Mongoose
The release schedule is somewhat mysterious because there is nothing scheduled any more?
Any info on which soucebooks we might see next (excepted Cimmoria)?

conan d20 2 is scheduled for release mid this year so it would be silly to release any new books before that.
I don't think Conan 2.0 will be much of a revolution so we don't need to wait this long.

I agree whole heartedly, If 2.0 is as has been suggested a series of tweaks and tidy ups instead of a radical re-writing then there really is no reason to have such a long wait.

And the 4-year licence seems now reduced to 3.5 years.
Honestly, 6 months without releasing a book of a gaming system is a bit of a suicide.
Matt did declare this too last year or 2 years ago in his yearly view.

I agree. That's my whole point in the thread I started. I'm hoping that some adventures will be published outside of S&P at the least.

and whay about the yearly campaign?

(at least you see that my poll about the cancelled campaign had some results)

Absolutely. :D

But the large campaign will probably be attached or released shortly after the 2.0 release.

What irks me is the no response from Mongoose about any of our questions. Go on the other Mongoose forums and questions are regularly answered. Here, we rarely get a response and on Rulemasters forget it. Not sure why that is. :|

I hope that the 'Goose has a special offer to let us have the 2.0 ed. a tad cheaper since we few, we faithful, we savage Conan-ites have already bought the earlier incarnations of the core rules. :D 8)

Yup, I bought the original rules, the AE (or 1.5 edition) and the little pocketbook version, and like the sucker I am I'll buy 2.0. I was not very impressed with the PDF update they released, yup it said we've changed this rule (or that) but did they print the new rule?, did they Heck!

So no add this pdf to your rulebook and your running with the in-crowd there

Perhaps we're gonna have to make our own amusements?

BTW how do you offer material for 2.0 ? anyone know?

In the meanwhile, there is a new setting for Lankhmar (with Runequest rules). Very appropriate for urban adventures in the Hyborian Age.

There is some stuff that could be published before 2.0 and stay at least 90% compatible with the new edition. Adventures, map-packs, even budle-deals for the 1st ed. books would fill the gap a little. Too bad nobody thought to throw us a bone. I hope the 2ed. and following supplements are going to be worth the wait.

Mongoose is very secretive about its projects.

They announce book releases and most see indeed the daylight but I guess they don't like to speak about it until it's baked hot on their table.

Yeah that could be it.

I'm just saying - thank god for Vincent stopping by and answering some questions and giving some news now and then. I've always wondered what happened to Ian Sturrok the co-author of the Conan RPG and wonder how different things may of been if he had stayed with Mongoose. Is Paul Tucker, the other co-author of the Conan RPG, still with Mongoose?

Seems like with those two guys not around no one besides Vincent has taken the RPG under their wing...maybe that will change with the release of 2.0.

Anyway, just some random thoughts.

I think Ian Sturrock is working on another Slaine project (with Runequest rules). In fact the Slaine magic system (though the rules are D20) was the base on which Conan's magic system was developped.
As to Paul Tucker, I don't know what happened to him.

You should contact the other "Conan guys" (like the one who performed the Messantia box) but I wonder whether you will have any info.

Hi, how do you fare?
Don't you have some adventure ready to offer to Mongoose or something like a Vendhyan sourcebook?

BTW I remember there was a topic on whether people would like Conan under runequest rules or not.
And now that Runequest has been released, I am sure many of these guys would declare the opposite. This system is really cool, especially with the new rules about Hero Points which enable you to purchase heroic abilities, something like feats. The advantage of RQ being that you aren't limited by levels.
