Where was the Battle? For 3rd Imperium Character Generation

The drifter event where you are drafted is what led me to ask what other Referees and Travellers do when it comes up. The Glass Cannon Network had this happen in their game Getting Drafted .
I presumed that as you get drafted next Term that you were not ejected from your Drifter career and therefore get to try for advancement and benefits as normal. It seems a bit harsh if you are treated as though you failed a survival roll and lose everything as well.

I think I also took the military academy rules at face value and gave him the full suit of basic training for those terms rather than pick one from the list as you would normally for basic training. There was a fair degree of overlap anyway.

"Lucky" - 748487 Age 42.
Admin-0, Carouse-0, Electronics-0 (Background Skills).
Vacc Suit-0, Athletics-0, Gunner-0, Mechanic-0, Recon-0, Tactics-0, Heavy Wpn-0, Stealth-0, Astrogation-0, Survival-0
Gun Combat (Slug)-1, Pilot(Small Craft)-1
Secure Gauss Rifle w/Aux GL, Laser Sight, Spare Magazine

T1- Naval Academy (Drafted into Army Before Graduating).
T2- Army (Support) Rank 0. Advanced Training (failed). Benefit +1 END (included in statline).
T3- Marine Academy (Crash without graduating).
T4- Drifter (Scav) Rank 0. Drafted into Scouts. Benefit Contact. Aging - Lost 2 Physical (included in statline)
T5- Scout (Explorer) Rank 0. Dealing with Alien Intelligence - Fail, No idea what happened.
T6- Scout (Explorer) Rank 0. Injured (Lost Eye - 2 Dex included in statline). Discharged. Benefit Weapon.

He ended up as a pilot running a rented ship in system. He would be reasonably competent but his poor initial stats degraded by aging and injury (especially DEX) reduce even the things he is good at to mediocrity. His entire career has been exemplified by failure. IF he hadn't been drafted in his first term there is a reasonable chance we would have graduated, been getting +1 on EDU tasks, he would have been an Officer in the Navy and almost certainly ended up with better rank, benefits, skills and prospects.

If you see him in the bar, buy the poor sod a drink, he needs one.

EDIT:
I ran him through with the same rolls with the only exception being he made the SOC roll to avoid the draft in his first term. As the event rolls on the Navy table are more benign he did much better, the survival roll for line/crew was easier than in other careers and as he had a continuous Navy career ending as a Commander, he ended up with 6 Benefit rolls rather than 3. Navy benefits are significantly better than the others he received, so in addition to the weapon and stat uplift (INT vs EDU) instead of a Contact he got a personal vehicle, TAS Membership, 2 ship Shares and a Ships Boat. Even the loss of his eye was mitigated by the Navy covering the bill for restoration of his sight, meaning his DEX skills do not suffer a negative DM. He has the same number of skills, but instead of all of them being level 0 bar tow level 1 skills, his uninterrupted career has given him 5 level 0, 8 level 1 and 2 level 2, his SOC was also uplifted by 2 rolls on the Personal Development tables so now he gets a +1 SOC bonus.

This mirror universe "Lucky" frequents the bar in the TAS rather than the seedy dives. He has a clear military background and excellent references, rather than a checkered history of almost achievements. He owns a sleek grav racer and an upgraded small craft to make speedy discretion assured deliveries rather than having to rely on a customer funded rent-a-wreck. He is not out of place at an official function but has the scars to prove he can mix it with the toughs as well rather than looking like he has already done so.

He is Ace Rimmer :)
