now i just have to look up "kitori and the "kingdom of Night", cause its the second age that counts for our campaign.
'History of the Heortling Peoples' is probably the best source on the Kitori. Basically, they're a tribe of people (mostly human) living in the foothills of the Stormwalk Mountains. They worship Darkness deities and are allies of the trolls. (Their enemies claim that they interbreed with them, which is probably untrue.)
The Kingdom of Night, also called the Shadowlands, is the realm of Ezkankekko the Only Old One, an Uz demigod. Before the Dawn it was a troll kingdom ruling most of Kethaela (the entire land south of Dragon Pass) with its centre at the Obsidian Tower on the Shadow Plateau. Ezkankekko pursued a policy of alliance with other races and formed part of the World Council of Friends in the First Age. The Kitori tribe owes its origin to humans who began following the troll gods during this period.
He withdrew from the Council because he disagreed with the creation of Nysalor, and the trolls suffered badly in the ensuing wars. He allied with Arkat, and Arkat's victory restored the power of the Kingdom of Night over the whole area. However, human and other tribes who had once been loyal and willing subjects of the Kingdom now resented their troll overlords, and there was rebellion - a factor in the rise of the EWF to power.
Later in the Second Age, God Learner invaders occupied much of the territory that Ezkankekko claimed, such as southern Heortland, coastal Esrolia and Caladraland. In self-defence he was forced to ally with his erstwhile opponents the EWF and become their subject kingdom.
After the destruction of the EWF and Middle Sea Empire in the Third Age, Ezkankekko prospered again for a while - but he was eventually defeated and killed by the Pharoah, who turned the Kingdom of Night into the Holy Country.
