Whats the geopolitical situation?

This Whitewall seems to be an important location. I cant find it on the maps from Mongoose, where is it and why was it so important?

Whitewall, or as it is known by the Orlanthi Ililbervor, is the sacred fortress of the Hendriking kings. It is there that Vingkot defeated the Oceans when they sought to conquer Kerofinela. It was there that Garan the last Star Captain came to the aid of his lover Serias and saved the Vulture Campers. And it was there that Heort first showed the survivors of the Darkness the secret of the Star Heart and of I Fought We Won.

Whitewall is where the Hendriking kings are acclaimed and is one of the most important places of Orlanth worship in the Dragon Pass area.

Thanks for the answers!

I see i still have lot to learn of Heortling/Glorantha history...

I will use Whitewall, great place to use in a campaign with orlanthi.

...bu...t what!? I found it, on page 106 in "Glorantha second age". There is nothing about Heortland or Hendriksland but i found them elsewhere.

There is a WhitewallWiki site detailing the third age siege which is, or should be one of the epic highpoints of any third age Dragon Pass Lunar v Orlanth campaigns.

They have some simple but good maps and some awesome artwork that was just so good that I got quite annoyed when I got History of the Heortling Peoples and saw the fairly feeble 'official' map of Whitewall within that seemed to serve no other purpose than to refute some excellent work done elsewhere.

They have third age Whitewall set up as highly reminiscent of Masada (well, the mythology of Masada) which I am totally up for. The site's a bit confusing, to be fair, and there is little room for maneuver given the work that has already been done (not that this should or will stop anyone doing their own thing with it), but it's still an excellent resource.

Obviously Third Age Whitewall has a bearing on the Orlanth is Dead campaign that lies at the heart of HeroQuest. However, it's just as interesting during the Second Age with all of the stuff about the Kitori and the Kingdom of Night.

You an angel giving me that information, now i just have to look up "kitori and the "kingdom of Night", cause its the second age that counts for our campaign.

Not so much. It seems to have vanished. Removed by Lunar Heroquesters, no doubt.

Your best bet is History of the Heortling Peoples, then. I'd still recommend trying to join the yahoo group, which has slumped into inactivity/choked on its own productivity, because there is an artist's impression of Whitewall in their shared files that is soooo good. Like a cross between Masada and Minas Tirith.

'History of the Heortling Peoples' is probably the best source on the Kitori. Basically, they're a tribe of people (mostly human) living in the foothills of the Stormwalk Mountains. They worship Darkness deities and are allies of the trolls. (Their enemies claim that they interbreed with them, which is probably untrue.)

The Kingdom of Night, also called the Shadowlands, is the realm of Ezkankekko the Only Old One, an Uz demigod. Before the Dawn it was a troll kingdom ruling most of Kethaela (the entire land south of Dragon Pass) with its centre at the Obsidian Tower on the Shadow Plateau. Ezkankekko pursued a policy of alliance with other races and formed part of the World Council of Friends in the First Age. The Kitori tribe owes its origin to humans who began following the troll gods during this period.

He withdrew from the Council because he disagreed with the creation of Nysalor, and the trolls suffered badly in the ensuing wars. He allied with Arkat, and Arkat's victory restored the power of the Kingdom of Night over the whole area. However, human and other tribes who had once been loyal and willing subjects of the Kingdom now resented their troll overlords, and there was rebellion - a factor in the rise of the EWF to power.

Later in the Second Age, God Learner invaders occupied much of the territory that Ezkankekko claimed, such as southern Heortland, coastal Esrolia and Caladraland. In self-defence he was forced to ally with his erstwhile opponents the EWF and become their subject kingdom.

After the destruction of the EWF and Middle Sea Empire in the Third Age, Ezkankekko prospered again for a while - but he was eventually defeated and killed by the Pharoah, who turned the Kingdom of Night into the Holy Country.

I found an exellent example of what I mean. A map of what the situation is on the political and military front!

http://www.celtic-webs.com/glorantha/graphics/middle/maps/political1634_download.jpg

Continuing with the search for a suitable map of whole northen Glorantha to show how the situation may look like in the 2nd age as I promised.

Thats is late third age.

Thats is late third age.

Yea, but its an example of a map that shows the geopolitical situation:
-Who´s who
-Who´s where
-Activities of importance

The discussion was about that Mongoose could do a little more to illustrate those questions in their material.
