A friend whose A GM in A Campaign that's A Hybrid of 1st and 2nd Edition Traveller wants to know what's The Biggest Size Ship A Group of 4 Ex Naval Captains and 1 Ex Naval Admiral Type Pcs could get when due to The Rank 7 Officer/Rank 4 NCO who served for 9 terms Type High Command Ex Naval Pc getting 2 Independent Operations and the other 4 being Rank 6 Officers/Rank 3 NCO's who also served for 9 terms can afford A 60% Ownership and a down payment of up to Cr 5,690,000

As well as which The Rank 7 Officer/Rank 4 NCO who served for 9 terms Type High Command Ex Naval Pc contributes 38% of that ownership and Cr 5,240,000 of that Cr 5,690,000. So quite a sizeable investment from just 1 Pc

PS I'm as puzzled as the people reading this are likely to be as to why he's letting his payers keep these characters

There is no real limit on the size of ship they could buy, just on the cost. The lender is going to want to see a plan that will allow the payments to be made, that is the only thing they are interested in. A cargo hauler, passenger liner, or mining ship can generate revenue to cover the costs, a military or "adventure" type ship will require a whole lot more convincing. "We will bounce around the subsector looking for odd jobs" is unlikely to convince a bank to hand over millions of credits.

Of course, MCr. 5 and 38% equity might be enough to tempt an unscrupulous banker to knowingly grant an unsupportable loan with the expectation of quickly repossessing the ship to resell when the characters default on the mortgage.

Sorry I've just been informed that my friend said his player rolled A 5 for the value in Millions of Cr for his 2nd independent operation, but he/the player actually rolled A 6, so a possible down payment of Cr 6,240,000 not a possible down payment of Cr 5,240,000, I've also amended the other/similiar other topic and this 1
