I am running two campaigns now. One in the Old World of WFRP and the other (Better) in Glorantha. I have a few more players interested in Lankhmar, but it is not that popular.

My own setting, taking elements from Tolkien, Glorantha, our own myths, some anuime, but not much, and a bit of pirate-esque things. There is also a lot of final fantasy references and triibutes, as well as adventure quest ones.

I actually play most of my games right here on Earth.

Sorry.

You say most, where would you be playing the others, and how does one get to them? Got another seat on the shuttle?

I was running a modern day 24-meets-Stargate-with-psychics-vs-nazis game, but that's on hold now 'cos I want to run Traveller playtests.

So do you know when we can expect the Gwenthia for MRQ?

Spring next year. Various things got in the way of getting it out this year, as planned, not least my starting to work for Mongoose full time. However there is already a playtest ruleset (PM me of you want a copy, including a scenario), and all the basics such as magic and chargen are in place.

The biggy is religions and structuring the immense amount of material into a 256 page (ish) book.

But Gwenthia is coming...

Great, thank you, and PM has been sent.

LotR with the kids (and soon to add some Pirates to the LotR) plus plans to do some Lankhmar with the mates.

LOTR seems like it'd work great with runequest

I reckon it works a treat, and is easy. I think:
- somehow the lack of specific character classes works well with LotR,
- the magic system is easy to mod and I always think of LotR as being fairly low magic anyway,
- RQ combat fits in very nicely with the movie style action that the kids like, especially getting knocked back by trolls, running, jumping and diving around, etc.

Actually, I play a sort-of "cinematic style" of RQ combat. Whenever someone attacks someone else the loser of the opposed roll is pushed back 1metre. Hence unless surrounded, or backed into a wall no one ends locked in combat and it lets the characters (and bad dudes) move around alot.

I also allow (which I think has been suggested elsewhere in the forum) that its always possible to do a "move and fight" as a single action, "charging" just lets you move twice as far but you must move in a straight line, plus getting the damage bonus if you move at least 5m (or jump from a table, swing from a handy rope/chandelier).

cheers, Ari
