What to use to clean release agent off new models

SneakyPete

Mongoose
I just ordered some of the new ships, a Mars BB, A Star Tiger DNL and an OK6. These models came quickly from the Mongoose website and arrived in excellent condition in a well padded box. The molds are the cleanest I have seen yet (and I have bought a lot from the earliest resin releases until now) with the best detail to date and very minimal flash to clean up. The joint designs too are much improved for both the hull and nacelles on teh Fed ships. The OK6 though still has the thin D6 wings that makes mounting the nacelles a bit tricky.
Now when I went to paint them though I am having problems getting the primer to adhere, even after using some carb cleaner to wash them off. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good product to clean off the release agent I assume they used in the molding process?

I normally just use liquid dish soap. Make sure it is a grease-cutter type.

Same for me. A gentle scrub with warm soapy ( dish washing liquid ) water and then rinse and left to dry before primer spraying.

That did the trick, thanks. Never had this problem so badly before, but was worth the trouble to get models in such great condition.
