What MRQ1 books should I get?

Dr. Mabuse

Mongoose
My FLGS is selling MRQ 1. ed. books at half price to make room for 2. ed.

I need help spending my money :)

I have already picked up Dragonewts, Ducks, Jrustelia and Taint & Sanity. And I bought Dara Happa (great book) and Slaine earlier.

I am looking for stuff that's
a) good,
b) not too tied to the MRQ1 version of the rules,
c) not going to be re-issued in glorious MRQ2 edition this year.

I have been playing RQ for a long time, so I have most of the books from the Chaosium and Avalon Hill years (Sadly I didn't get Tales of the Reaching Moon or any of the other excellent "unofficial" works from the wilderness years).

What should I get from MRQ1? Which books did you like the most?

Id say these (in order)

Ralios (Slim but excellent campaign setting material)
Blood of Orlanth
Fronela
The Clanking City
Ruins of Glorantha (Info on the Tunneled Hills)
Trolls (But not if you have all that AH stuff!)
Dwarves (Possibly)

Blood of Orlanth is an excellent campaign but the NPCs will need a complete overhaul to work well with RQII and there's not a lot of setting information. So it's good but possibly not great.

I wouldn't bother with any more creatures books because they'll be covered in Races of Glorantha. It won't be the same level of detail though.

To be honest, there's not an awful lot in the MRQI line I would get in your position. I've not bought Fronela but I've every reason to think it would be good. Clanking City might be worthwhile as I believe that's mostly fluff. Ralios is cheap and purely setting and is great fun. I doubt it's in the new Glorantha book but you never know. Pirates is fun and most of it could be played under RQII with minimal changes. Ditto Land of the Samurai though I can't say it's really my bag.

I'd say get the scenarios as they are the least likely to be reprinted in updated form.

Having said that I wouldn't bother with Rune of Chaos, which I didn't think worked even when Runes were physical items...

Thank you all for the advice.

Orlanth, Ruins, Ralios and Fronela is gone all ready.

I think I'll take your advice and wait for Races of Glorantha (maybe they will remember to add another version of Kygor Litor this time :) ).

That leaves Clanking City, Land of the Samurai and Pirates as possible buys (and 3 Hawkmoon books but I gather that they will get the MRQ2 treatment shortly).

Thanks
