It may be a matter of taste, but I prefer soft cover books for at least two reason:
- they are cheaper
- they are (comparatively) thinner and not so heavy

Mongoose already released so-called standard books: 128 pages soft covers and 96 pages hard cover for approximatively the the same price but in one case you have more weigh and less pages.

So my question is simple: if Mongoose keeps on releasing these standard books for Conan RPG which form would you like most?

I'm with Mr. Presley: I want my book full of information but a hard cover ain't neccessary for just 128 pages.
If you blow it up to , say, 150 + - different story.

I voted 128 pages HC, but like Vincent, I'll go for 160 pages. The more stuff I get, the happier I am...

Yes of course 160 pages is great but this wasn't the standard used by Mongoose.

Stygia was 160 pages, and all the sourcebooks before that (other than Tito's) were close to 200 pages. It was the old standard. Most of the sourcebooks I wrote were written to 160+ pages - they were edited down from there to the "standard" you are talking about.

Even Ruins of Hyboria was 160 pages. I figure since most of the hardbacks were printed at 160+ (and all but the Compendium were written at 160+ per Mongoose's communications with me), that was indeed Mongoose's standard at one time. I would like it to go back to that standard.

Free companions and Hyboria's F. and Pirate isles and skelos are all standard 128 pages.
Shem, Argos & Zingara, Tito's trading, Faith & Fervour, Compendium are all standard 96 pages.

I don't consider a regional sourcebook as a standard book.

If you look at older D20 Mongoose material, the standard was 128 pages (Lone Wolf, etc.)
The RQ standard range is 96 pages (now 104 pages) with some being 128 pages.

But again, yes if there is a possibility to have 160 pages books, I vote in. Remember I was one of the first to complain that the regional sourcebooks were cut down from 200 to 160 then 96 pages.
