What kind of book for Glorantha do you want

The King

Cosmic Mongoose
I don't organize any poll because one can vote there only once (for most of us at least).
So I present there a list of kind of book for Glorantha. Please give the order of interest.

1) small scenario (32-48 pages)
2) scenario pack (96-150 pages)
3) campaign
4) race book (e.g. the full newtling compendium)
5) regional book without scenario
6) book with half part regional background and other half with scenario(s) (like Dorastor and Sun county)
7) rule books (e.g. HeroQuest mechanics)

Cheers

#5 works for me. I liked the old Sun County and Dorastor books. I am looking forward to Darra Happa stirs. I would also like to see more cult books as well as books on the southern continent.

You have used the number 3 two times. So, I'd rather spell it out

- campaign
- book with 50% regional background and 50% scenarios
- scenario pack

I like all 3 options but a long, epic campaign comparable to WFRP's "The Enemy Within" or Pendragon's "Boy King" would be extremely nice!

 I edited it.

Very good idea.
Yes a big campaign a la Warhammer (or like the Ragnarok campaign for Slaine with four 96 pages-book).

I suspect that we are now at the position where most GM's have sufficient background to be in a position to decide if they wish to run prolonged campaigns, I know I certainly am.

For this reason I must vote for

scenario pack - to fill in those awkward moments where real life gets in the way of preparation.
campaign (another) of the quality of BoO.
small scenario to give a variety to the overall story arc.

Priorities would be in that order.

'Dara Happa Stirs' fulfills #5 in your list...

Which is the regional book without scenario, yet the Dara Happa Stirs preview states

'Dara Happa Stirs is a Gloranthan sourcebook and campaign setting of epic proportions. Within its pages you will find detailed information concerning Yelm's empire: history, myths, and political structures for the empire in Glorantha's Second Age. You will also find new cults, new magic, expanded character creation for Dara Happan adventurers, a full campaign spanning 10 years of Dara Happan history and numerous story seeds for additional action and intrigue. '

Can someone confirm if it contains a campaign or not, as my purchase depends on the answer?

My response was made before the list was edited. It now becomes #6 (not #5).

Its both setting/regional book AND campaign. The second half of the book is a series of linked scenarios and scenario seeds, as outlined in the blurb text.

IMHO also a good mix .

Sorry if the question looked a little abrupt, but it was lunchtime at work  .

How about an "Adult" version of the cults, with all the old quirkyness put back in. One of the big reasons I always liked RQ was the lack of blandness.

Personaly I think that a mixture of all these would be great (to few Gloranthan scenario) but all regional sourcebook should have a least a scenario (though a campaign is also great).

Yes, I would like that as well but I would settle for a well-written and -edited book with a good mix of background and campaignibilty. Something like Griffin Mountain is too much to hope for though.

Yup, exactly the volume I had in mind when I posted my original reply. To use the modern parlance 'It rocks!'. I was lucky enough to have a great GM at the time, who made the whole thing come to life, and I have yearned to have something of that quality to wrestle with and hopefully emulate his skill ever since.

I regard Griffin Mountain as the best thing written for Gloranthan RP but my opinions are sometimes coloured by twenty years and the idea of a mythical golden age of Gloranthan writing. :D

That said, I relied on it heavily for inspiration (along with several other excellent books) when I was putting together Blood over Gold - a book I someday hope will become more generally available.

I have never been so in love with Griffin Mountain, as I started RPing after it was published, but as the lucky man who grabbed the last existing printed copy of Blood Over Gold from Rick's hands one year ago, I'll have a closer look at GM if you assert that BoG was inspired by it :)

Well, let's hope to see more of ths stuff around soon.

Wasn't it suppose to be a campaign at the beginning?

While we're in HeroQuest, do you know when the 4th set of the Sartar campaign will be released?

Which do you mean: Blood over Gold or Griffin Mountain? BoG was (and is) designed to have a useful campaign arc while GM is utterly freeform - but as I said there were other books inspiring me. Borderlands was the other big RQ touchstone I used. That and the fact that there has not been a starting-character arc book published in Glorantha in many years aside from the very Orlanth-o-centric Barbarian Adventures.

As far as I know, Sartar Rising is being turned into the Great Argrath Campaign by Greg. However, the scenarios that I wrote for the Dragonraising book along with a bunch of other material will probably be published as Vorifssaga as soon as I get my damned thesis done (having a two year old really cuts into writing time).
