Well it has taken me a year and a half to get 6K, bit ofl urking at the start but at that rate it'll take me a year to make another 4000 posts. Although my post rate is increasing according to my profile

But by Xmas, I don't think so.

Besides it'll all be over by Xmas.

My trouble with ACTA is I knnow all the rules but none of the strategy. I'll need to take lessons from Pauly.

LBH

This just in... LBH is Lord High Mongoose :p
LBH, let go of your key board and try getting away, even if just far enough to paint or play...
Maybe go into another room once in a while and watch TV?

And if we're ever in the same time zone I'd love to give you strategy lessons!

Try reading the Narn tactics thread my wife Kathy got going... Its wonderful so many people are willing to help her destroy me. :?
Should be interesting as I'm actually trying a fleet of ships I think have major defects, the Kutai, Darkner, Amar, and Vorchar at skirmish and Balvarian (whose SFOS 'merits' have athread of their own), Demos (not sure its a better idea than 2 Vorchans and feel definitely less flexible than a Dargan) and a Sulust (is it really any better than other raid choices?) at raid.
Should be interesting and give me more concrete ideas for revised Centauri tactics.

Yeah its an interesting idea, being a centauri player I'd like to know how it turns out. I guess the Sullust's stick is those interceptors which can be handy. It will definitely be interesting. I am kinda going to hold off on on the other thread I think have pretty much said what I can. It could pay off or it could get you creamed although your Kutai and Darkner will pose an interesting wrinkle.

We're not trying to have her destroy you, just rough you up a bit. She seems to have done quite well without advice however. Sounds like it will be a good match. besides she's your wife doesn't she have to right to see you beg for mercy

Of course we're just trying to give her as much of a reason to enjoy the game as you do Scimitar. Plus we're trying to be our usual helpful selves.

And besides Im sure theres plenty of helpful info for other Narn (and for that matter Centauri and anyone else facing either of them). To be honest I think it would be kinda cool if we had more threads like that with tactics for and vs. lots of different races. Yes even Minbari :p But an EA one would be good next or maybe an dedicated Centauri one?

Hey, Kutai and Darkner are good fun toys. Probably much under-rated except by those that have tried them (I have used an ACTA Kutai to destroy two damaged hyperions - approx 2/3 damage left - in the same turn before!). I actually thought you might have plugged one or two Darkners when I suggested some toys for her to try against you.

Actually Locutus there have been some threads where EA tactics have been bantered about, some for Centauri, and I think one or two Minbari threads as well beyond the "stealth is evil cheese and needs to be changed" thread.

Centauri died badly.
Darkner did well with battle lasers, but was mauled when she closed to use matter guns.
Vorchar survived fairly well and helped with initiative in set up & first round. Think next time I'd take a Corvan and some Rutarians though.
Kutai was all teeth. She inflicted some damage, but once she drew fire died very quickly.
Amar is crap. Take a Maximus instead.
Balvarian I misused. I held her back like a carrier, she needed to get into the fight and by the time she did, it was over. Still poor raid choice, even if it soaks damage like a Narn.
Sulust has some good points. Her interceptors annoyed my wife, but not long enough. Narn have so *&)%^ AD at range 8. Again, need to stay back.
Demos definitely can throw damage, but so few AD and no re-roll, plus short range and not much damage. Take as a was to finish off enemy ships, not a main battle line.

My style changes on the race and the scenario. I play EA very different than I do Centauri which is a good thing since i would get reamed. I am not really a great tactical mover since I often don't see things coming but I generally make good fleets that take advantage of a focused philosiphy right or wrong.

I just played a carrier battle against brakiri where my avenger and Nova swarmed the board with fighters., baited his fighters into dogfights and then hit ships from multiple supported angles when he was escorting ships with fighters. It was a good battle. He had the advantage in range which rarely happens and I didn't rush in so i had to be patient. he had an ikorta, 2 brikortas and a brakados. I rolled like gang busters on the pulse arrays and melted his ships. he played well and dished out the hurt but I came out ahead. his loads of antifighter weapons make starfuries go boom quite nicely.

Send in both the lawyers and diplomats first, then when their ships are in the middle of the table, both sides blasts them to bits, and goes home feeling they've won a major victory(and probably saved millions in court bills)

Yeah Zee Zee but you know somewhere someone is cursing that idea because of the paperwork they have to fill out.

Still is a decent idea though.
