What if..............

It would be jet black. A shade of black so deep your eye just kinda slides off it. And it would shimmer when you looked at it. A plucked chicken big as death and twice as ugly. And when it flies past, it's like you hear a scream in your mind.

An White Star had Shadow Tech instead of Vorlon tech?

there are several threads on Shadowtech White Stars - I did get a little carried away and write two supplements on that subject
see sig.

I did (but lost in the great forum crash) stat up a psi corps white star with Shadow tech as well...............

if you have an inspiration - let us know :)

Unable to find Shadowtech White Stars, but then again I could be blind

Once I get more used to the system I will probably work on one

Damn learning curve at the end of a game going away

Yeah, we messed around with producing a 'Blackstar' for a while. It was canned because we felt the idea was really not a good one. . .

Although putting Shadow Spines on a White Star makes a cool looking (IMO) model and its actually easy to do.

there are a couple of threads I found which may be of interest:

nope

just those from a Shadow Scout - the longer ones from the bottom half - I tend not use all of them when making a Scout to give room for the ninja magic adaptor.

:D

A white star with shields maybe? like they arent mean enough. Does anyone know why the psi corp hunter didnt get shields when they gave them to the nemesis and omega-x? I think shields would make more sense then the stealth.

The Hunter didn't get changed mainly because it's already a powerful enough ship with few complaints. Sure it probably should have a low shields score but something would have to go to make way...

The biggest point though is that only ships that were considered to be over or underpowered got changed. Any "balanced" ship was left as is, even if it didn't 100% match their appearances in the show.

well I did say I wouldnt mind doing away with the stealth trait in favor of shields. Maybe like a 10/1d6 shield.

By the way, your suggestion would be a massive upgrade! (about a 20% improvement in how tough the ship is)

I know its a bit much, but it also has less hits then most battle level ships and it only has one weapon. its a nice weapon, but its a pretty big draw back. You cant CBD and still shoot and a good crit renders the ship useless. Shields would offset both.

The point is you're arguing for an upgrade on a ship that is already considered by most people as a ship that is already on the good end of the scale. You point out those weaknesses but the ship is frankly great even with them. Get rid of them and you have a new broken ship in the game.

You mean the Stalker? The one that only has 25 damage points and 3D beam compared to the Hunter's 40 damage points and 5D beam?

Actually, that would be the way to go. Triggy's argument was that shields would make the Hunter much tougher; reducing its damage points would make it less tough and bring it back into balance.

Alternatively, leave it alone. The Hunter isn't a genuine Shadow ship (not in 2e anyway, it was in 1e and Armageddon). It's Psi Corps' first attempt to build their own experimental ship using Shadow technology. They had mastered the slicer beam and the self-sealing organic hull, but they hadn't yet figured out how to make shields work. Maybe make a War level variant with shields 5/5, stealth 5+ and in-service date 2264 as Psi Corps complete their research on Shadow technology 5 years later and upgrade the Hunter.

True, but it also cant take crew damage, auto repairs crits, gets more self-repair and is super manuverable.

Actually thats a pretty good idea. that war level ship would be pretty mean with shields and stealth.

Although the argument isnt that good since the shadow omega has shields and is an older ship. Plus the hunter isnt really psi corp tech, its black ops earthforce. If you read the unfilmed script in the crusade book it pretty much says so. But anyways... Maybe if the Hunter moved like a shadow vessel, that wouldnt be too bad, maybe speed 8 or 10. This ship was supposed to be able to take on the victory class after all.

And has no antifighter (apart from P&P's use of the beam as a fighter broom), no fighters, can be pinned with a good beam hit or jammed by telepaths.

According to ACTA, the Hunter has an in-service date of 2259, the Shadow Omega has an in-service date of 2261. By my reckoning that makes the Hunter older. ;) The Hunter is indeed Earthforce black ops, so is the Shadow Omega - for ACTA purposes, Psi Corps is Earthforce black ops. And if the Hunter is supposed to be able to take on a Victory then by definition it's an Armageddon class ship, in which case by all means give it shields and stealth along with the Stalker's movement. :D

Shields plus stealth is indeed a fun combination. I love my Scouts.
