What helps you get into the 'zone'?

I do technically have a specific painting area, that's limited to a small counter surface. Unfortunately the models tend to spill out all over the place, they're like tribbles. I leave the room for a moment and suddenly the room's flooded with hundreds of small plastic and metal miniatures.

glass of scotch and coke,
some munchy`s,
something good on the box(doe`s not have to be B5)Galactica will do in a pinch and i am set for the evening.

a good beer...and i need an inspiration to paint
and an long music score...
current "Bear McCreary - Prelude to War BSG Soundtrack"
...damn..that is so fantastic... :D

Threats, bribery and blackmail.

I won't buy any new stuff until at least X is painted (where X will take longer to paint than the new stuff)

Good background music. Lately its been Muse's black holes and revalations. I set "knights of cydonia" on repeat the other day and got so in the zone I ended up hearing it about 10 times. (my wife came in and told me that she liked muse but CHANGE THE SONG!!!)

I can't eat while working, I get glue and paint all over my hands. I'm such a mess... :P

Watching the show helps me.
Being excited by the game helps more.
B5 games being new to me they excite me more than, say, Warhammer Fantasy which I have been playing for 8 years and even though there is a 3500 point tourney coming up, I can't get myself to paint enough miniatures to fill out my ranks for that size army because I am too excited by B5 games...
