What happens to Glorantha? Spoilers!

Well, this may not be exactly the place to discuss this, but its guaranteed that there'll be people here wishing to discuss this, and/or know about it.

As stated, there may be spoilers for people who dont wish to know what happens to Glorantha after the Hero Wars...

I dont know much, and, Greg may change his mind anyway, but I was wondering if people knew more than I. Come to think of it, everyone may know more than I do, so Id like to pick your brains!

After the Hero Wars in the 3rd age, the world is plunged into a new dark age.

Thats it! Thats all I know! Anyone know more? C'mon guys, spill the beans!

As far as I know, Glorantha after the Hero Wars is a canonical area of doubt and uncertainty. There is some indication of what MIGHT happen in the more distant future, but the outcome of the Hero Wars is not defined. The reason for this is simple: it will be defined (or at least affected) by the actions of the PCs in each campaign, and there is no single canonical outcome.

Mostly. Doubtless Greg has his own ideas about how it will turn out, but he has been very cagy about them. Which I think is good: they are much more exciting if you don't know what will happen!

I think Greg has had specific ideas about what happens afterwards. He may have changed his mind, or modified his future histories (Greged them!), but my little bit of info came direct from the horses mouth. I may be imagining it, but Im sure there was something about the world changing shape too, to a sphere. That may be apocryphal, but the 'dark age' bit is right.

Unlike Kintire, I hold that there is the framework of a general "Future History" laid out in 'King of Sartar'... but it's still nebulous.

Heroes can alter many strands, but perhaps not the overall flow.

Possibly, it depends on the interactions of heroes and the Monster Empire.

Yes.

I took it that Glorantha morphed into our own proto-history. Like it was the real origins of the Earth. I may be out on a limb there, though. :)

Err, I didn't read it that way....

Its not in King of Sartar.

It was around the time of the release of Cults of Terror, I think. My friend badgered Greg at a Con. It must have been in a weak moment, because my friend came back to me with the light of esoteric knowledge in his eyes, like he'd been illuminated! I didnt see the point, as, at the time, Glorantha was an frp setting, like Tekumel seemed. He then told me some of this stuff, but it was a gfood long while ago, and, as I say, it didnt seem that important. Runequest was just a minor player in the games arena, and seemed vaguely quirky and the product of the fevered mind of a hippy. :)

The best reference, King of Sartar, struck me as being (purposefully) focused on Peloria/Tarsh/Dragon Pass/Sartar/etc.

The assembled fragments don't seem to reference the future of The West, Kralorela, Pamaltela, etc, except in a very peripheral way.
