What do you want in a GM screen?

Mongoose
So I'm working on a set of GM screen inserts. It's going to be eight pages, with one being the "cover". My idea is to put out a set of screens, with each being geared towards a certain type of campaign. For the merchant screen there's going to be the planetary trade codes, passenger/mail/freight and speculative tables, plus a "character sheet" you can fill out to list a planet's available wares. For a naval campaign, there's going to be ship sheets, naval battle rules and so on.

I'm also thinking of putting in a sector map on the player side of the screen, so everyone can tell at a glance what's in range.

What do you want to see in a GM screen?

I've bought the MgT GM screen. Because I was running games in a Charity's coffee den, there wasn't enough room to use it. So I photocopied it and stuck the tables to the inside front and back parts of the Core Rule Books.

When I was running AD&D2e games, I always had a sheet that was a quick rundown of the player's characters. That kept things going at a reasonable pace.

A GM screen should have a list or weapons and armor, it should have a list of common vehicles and spacecraft, and a list of skills, Also it should have the standard travel formulas for interplanetary travel and a list or standard ranges for easy look up.

Okay, that sounds great. Mind if I ask what you think of my idea to have sets for each campaign type? You can swap out pages as needed. If I put up a generic table with equipment, ranges and the like, would you also be interested in seeing merchant stuff with trade codes and naval stuff with maneuvers and the like?

Nice picture any chance it could come with the deck plan map of a classic Traveller ship so the gm can lay it down and say "THIS is your ship"?

Once I brush up on my Cosmographer skills, sure. I'm thinking, among other things, that I'd like to have info for space navigation, combat info, equipment, a themed random adventure generator with useful NPC stats, deckplans with a ship sheet, trade info, a system details generator for explorers, bases and more.

Rereading your post, I see that you said classic Traveller ship. Securing old deck plans might be infeasible, but I'll work to create something useful.

I assumed a classic Traveller ship deckplan would be easier, but if not what ship deckplan would you(and anyone else with a particular favourite) would like to see?

So, none of the equipment tables, which list price, TL, damage and everything else, are in the SRD. This means that I can't use the info for standard stuff, but I could write up similar things.

Just use one of the standard types in the Mongoose main book but do your own plans. Make it look like one of those on the cover.

Edit: One of the FOUR on your cover. You should probably spread those out more.

Well, the screen is done with writing, layout and art. It's due from the printers for proofing in a week or two!

Lol, sure. This one has rules for for infantry combat with equipment lists, regular starship operations and jumps, b
And space combat.
