WAW/MC day in London ... would

anyone be interested.

Convinced we have found the best set of rules for platoon level action our club fancy running a WAW day in North London (with MC for anyone interested, I have a big Mogadishu set in 12mm) this would be be fun not really competition (unless everyone wants a comp) and would have a couple of tables where we could show newbies what it's all about.

We play in 15mm for Pacific but have a shed load of 20 and 36mm NWE stuff as well.

No fixed date yet was probably thinking early Dec or Jan and we can do either a Saturday or a Sunday.

SO just at the moment was wondering if there would be any interest before going any further with the plans.

would love to, but can't do it :( were you to hold an event next summer I'd be well up for it, but in early december I'll be awaiting the arrival of my firstborn.

Interested to hear your preference for Waw at pltaoon level. How would you compare WaW to the upcoming Flying lead rules you are working on?
Cheers
Alex

WAW gives us a club set we can plonk lots on the table and have a couple of games in the night of what I call 'faceless' skirmish (as in no model has a name or abilities etc) ... superb set with a great feel.

Meanwhile Flying Lead which is out very soon from Ganesha games adds projectile weapons into the Songs of Blades mechanics - they are multi genre (I use them for pulp like Inglorious Basterds and SG-1 type games) but are very much at squad level - everyone has abilities etc - like most of Ganesha Games stuff it is basically quick role playing really. The main drive for doing was to allow the club members to be able to play shooty type games without learning a completely different rule set as we already play fantasy SOBH a lot.

Different games completely really.

Thanks for the info. I will get them to play with my big ww2 boys: aka 1/35th scale! Tho if they will knock Nuts! from their top position on the skirmish front...well we will see...

I am slowly getting some Peter Pig 15mm together for bigger actions and I reckon WaW will do fine for them.

Hey my rules of choice for squad level is NUTS - I didn't aim to compete with them at all ... rather to give an alternative for people who don't like the NUTS reaction mechanics. We game in 1/48 with them.

15mm is ideal for WAW and looks good to boot!

To answer your intitial post. I would be interested in a non compettion WaW event (with figs provided your end) but dec/jan would be difficult for me plan now. A summer event 2010 would be easier to calender. I live in South London.

id be interested but its all a little close to crimbo for me, every spare penny i have around then is pointed into the direction of others, while i survive on bread and water lol :)

I'll pencil it in for early March ... we can theme it our end to coincide with the launch of the HBO Pacific series but play all of WWII and modern stuff as well!
