Vree Xeel?

Mongoose
The "fluff" and the ship title indicate that this ship is a carrier, but yet it does not have the carrier trait. Is this a mistake? Has this been FAQ'd or corrected somehow? Or is it correct?

Thanks!

Chris

It's a carrier, just not a very good one. ;)

Psi Corps Fighter Carrier is another example. Despite mounting their starfuries onto the outside of a freighter, they still have problems trying to figure out how to launch them all in one go ;)

it may not be very good it carrier terms, but it allows you to field the lovely powerfull tzymms, which have won many a battle for me, they also can stay outside a.f. range on cap ships

the T'Rann is a bit poor, and lets not even go near the Drakh "carrier"

a bit poor you say haha, hey the new m,ship should be in this week!

I was being Polite!
Mothership? whats one of them then?? however long I have been waiting for a mo ship (about 18 months) I did once have a 4 year wait for a LARP shield! so this is nothing!

4 years ,gulp, spoke to russ yesterday says he hopes they will be in this week, fingers crossed, hopefully will come with my war globe and luminati transport, yep hard to be polite with the other two

I really don't think there is anything wrong with the Xeel. 6AD of SAP DD goodness, +1 crew quality to get that extra Tzymm out of the launch bay, and it carries likely the best fighter of any of the league races.....What's not to like?

Who said it wasn't desireable? It's a fine ship, just not great as a carrier. It is a good, all around ship, much like the Omega.
Regards,

the xeels won me more games that anything else in the "new" vree fleet, its not the greatest of carriers, but it carries great fighters, and its got ALOT of guns for a carrier

I will take it every day as a carrier. IMO it is one of the best ships that the league can place on the table.

I wholeheartedly concur. Its just not a scary carrier with all the bells and whistles. I've loaned my Vree fleet to a friend who has done very well with it, with and without fighters.

I guess my point is that it doesn't need the "bells and whistles."

BTW, if I was an ISA player and I wasn't terrified of the Xeel and it's Tzymm buddies, then I am making a huge tactical mistake.

Terrified? No.. It just goes to the top of the "fry 'em" list. ;)

The 5 point raid force of vree I'm putting together will have two. (when the other one is finished that is). They have got to be one, if not the best, skirmish level carrier out there. Although that could be as much due to the fighters it carries as the ship itself.

Since its being debated what constitutes a 'great' carrier?

I brought up the milani early on as a skirmish level carrier that didn't have the carrier trait. The ships are similar in damage output while depending on different defenses (maneuver/high af vs shields/higher hull). The huge difference is in the fighters.

- to be fair a milani with opponents in range in three arcs will put out a bit more damage but the Xeel never has an 'out of arc moment' -

Both carriers can off load the fighters fairly quickly with scrabble (did they go to scrabble adding one or two in the new rulebook?) scrabble, both can defend themselves from similar level ships, both have a some punch after the fighters are launched. What is missing outside the fleet carrier trait?
