Vor: The Maelstrom

First off, who is Skuzzy?

And who are they?

Who at the mini company should be talked to, who designed the rules, what copmanies could publish it, and what and where can be demoed (cons, miniatures stashes, etc.).

I like challneges!
Hey, think the two of us could acquire the rights? Start a company even....

Its one of the first things I thought of was how to aqquire the rights, but they are spread out owned by several parties - AND I heard Skuzzy won't sell them.

Fasa published it, and when they closed their doors the rights for the Game reverted to Mike "Skuzzy" Nielsen (its creator).

Iron Wind Metals have the rights for Miniatures in the US, and Ral Partha Europe over here.

Its a bit of a mess tbh.

So, who are the several parties? Anyway of working alonside Skuzzy or getting into contact with him?

Are Ral Partha easy to talk to?
And how are Iron winds and Ral Partha connected?

Lord Bunny and Ninja (net names, I don't know them by their real world names) reckoned Skuzzy wants to leave it for now.

I tried badgering, its one we should keep in touch over and keep pushing for.

Kind of a shame that skuzzy wants to leave it, bu tother thna net names, do you know what these people did or their involvement.

I think a Vor revival campaign may be in order. I'll try my damndest to save for an army anyway, maybe two to demo with, and two to convert.

We'll have to see how things progress.

I'm writing ABC Warriors VOR Rules atm Lol.

I finished the "Rocket Rangers" Army List, they play a treat!

What minis for the rocket rangers? In Starship Troopers terms how would they play?

I know you like creating rules for other suff that appear in Vor, and that is what the rules are about, but have any of your group tinkered on new 'Vor Race Factoins?'.

Not really, there are a couple of Golem lists drifting around the net.

I use the ones from "Pulp Figures" for the Rocket Rangers, they are a very mobile force with light weaponry - great fun!

I miss this game too! I have a large force of Zykee, (the Soulless rule!) and had started the Shard when it died. Wish people in my area still played it.

Johns Soulless have never proved a problem Lol, God Bless "Devolve" Lol!

I have not been able to locate anything about this. Does anybody have a website with info on "No Limits"?

No Limits

No Limits is another game system that is suprisingly similar to Vor. It's a generic game system so you can build any army you like and use any minis you like. It has a more developed custom force bulider than Vor. If you like the Vor mechanics, you'll like No Limits.

I've been submitting ideas for more traits. Trying to get enough that you can emulate the traits of armies from various game systems.

There's several custom armies already up there. I've been roughing out a few, including a Mobile Infantry army list.

The nice thing with this system is that you can play any faction you like, using any minis you have. Picture Mobile Infantry vs. Growlers vs. Tyranids vs. Mishima Samurai vs. Syntha Androsynths.

Best of all, it's free.

Nice websight, great concept. Allowing us to use all those old figures.

Damn, now I'll have to assemble and paint those old miniatures. :!: :!: :!:
Thanks for the web reference guys.

Played it, and didn't like it. It works up to a point, its main problem is once you know how the Army Creation rules work they become very easy to abuse (I have seen more than a couple of 'super' Armies).

Whereas VOR's main flaw was the Army Creation book never saw print.

Razcak-Got a question for ya. While VOR was/is my favourite all time wargame (sorry MGP ), my group kind of felt like the Pharon were on the verge of unbalancing it. Playing the Union/Neo-Sovs. w/em was a joke, and even the Zykkee were hard pressed to beat 'em. We found the best were Growlers and Shard (Shard were immune to a lot of the special abilities of the death priests, and the Growlers were, well, Growlers...). They seemed to be the only two races who had even a chance against a well picked Pharon force. So did your group have a simila experience?

On a side note- The last game of VOR I ever played featured my limited addition RAZORFANG (nearly the size of a Plasma bug and solid pewter for the SAME PRICE) going toe to toe w/ a scratch built GOD KING I made for the Pharon player. Coolest game EVER!

Not at all, in fact I have lost more games with my Pharon than I have won with them.

Union - Undefeated (even against 40k Steves Custom Eldar list, that no one else can beat), Shard - 4 wins & 1 loss, Pharon 2 losses & 1 win.

Its possible that the guy who used the Pharon on your group was either a good player, or that the Pharon were 'his army' if you kwim.

They are very expensive for what you get, also if you use the wrong mix of elements in your army you end up with a very inflexible force.
