Victory at Sea book turn gauge and firing arcs

Just bought the book which is very nicely done, except that there are no copyable turn gauges or counters or firing arc diagrams that I can find in the book. Shouldn't there be? I don't need the counters and I can use the stuff in Age of Dreadnoughts but do I have an early edition that is missing this stuff. Note I bought it with a lot on eBay so not directly from Mongoose. The one picture that could be of a turn gauge looks different from the one in Dreadnoughts.

Thanks.

Got them thanks. I wonder though WERE they intended to be in the book? Were they just left out of all the books. Glad I asked too because the turn gauge IS different from Age of Dreadnoughts. That seems odd in and of itself.

The first printing of the book came with counters - probably including the turn gauge.

The second printing came with B&W counters in the back to copy and print.

What I sent you was the errata to the counters from the first printing - some were misnamed or missed and there was additional turn gauges, because they only had one direction originally IIRC.

I have this problem too. I just bought the book direct from Mongoose at the Warlord open day today. There are no counters and no turn template anywhere. The index refers to counters on p97 and the book has 96 pages. Not very impressed so far. :|

Would it be possible to have them as downloads from the website or from here on the forum for registered users (like SAGA does)

Greg has been great at providing copies but really they should be in the book. In my edition they are in the index but the book runs out of pages before the counters. In my son's copy there is no mention in the index but he does have counters. :shock:

Looking forward to V.2

Already waiting for you;

What are the actual turn angles? from the templates it looks like the first increment is larger than the others.

Also, if not already in the V2 rules, for templates like this and smoke etc, can you put the relevant angles and dimensions in the book as well please.

So far the only minor niggle in the game really, the turn templates are not the easiest thing in the game to use since the turn is measured from the back, not hard to figure out though :-)

The turn template is not used in V2 :)

Will be very interested to see what you have come up with.

DW uses a system of turning templates, which sort of works but also sort of doesn't - they are a pain to use around other craft for one thing.

Looking at the physics of it a turning radius thing works reasonably well for a ship moving at speed turning with its rudder, but the system VaS V1 uses works a lot better for ships moving at slower speeds using both rudder and propeller speed / direction differentials to turn.

Given how the game seems to be well thought through will be watching with interest :-)
