VAS Demo Game at Kublacon May 27

I will be running a Battle of the Java Sea scenario using modified VAS rules at Kublacon on Sunday, May 27. Start time is 10:00 AM. There will be room for up to 8 players. 1/2400 ship models and all playing aids will be provided. Hope to see some of you there.

Two days to go til Kubla Con WOOHOO. After all these years of gaming this will be the first gaming convention outside of San Diego that I've been to. I'm flying up early to sightsee (after which my wife becomes a gaming widow-bought her a laptop specifically for this trip) Some VaS, some ACTA and a I think I'll be playing a whole lot of demos for games that I've been wanting to try.

I'm expecting the Java Sea game to be...bloody.

Well, after following my admiral's orders, I ended up looking like the back end of a donkey. No one should be ordered to turn a tight 270 degree turn...

All the same, I had fun commanding the dutch and english cruisers. I just cannot wait to pick up my copy of the rules and get smacked around some more by you Dannie.

Rich was there as well. It was great getting to meet Erik and Rich. It's always good to meet those that you've spent a lot of time exchanging emails with. I was also fortunate enough to spend about 30 minutes with Alex as well.

The Java Sea demo went well. We had 10 new players with nearly as many onlookers. After 30 minutes of explanation, we got into pushing lead for 5.5 hours The game went back and forth with first the IJN and then the Allies having the advantage. Poor use of the Dutch/UK cruiser squadron and incredibly bad dice over the last two turns resulted in a IJN victory. I know that a few rule books were sold that day!

Game looked great Dan--quite the crowd! It was cool to see how different folks approach the scenario....so, next year Java sea in space?
