Use for Perform (Ritual)?

I'm not finding anything in the text that shows having anything more than maybe 1 rank of Perform (ritual) to be of use - anyone got a page cite or a substantive reference to where this skill is useful in game mechanics terms?

It is useful in a Power Ritual (page 184), but that is about it (at least in the core rules).

It is one of those skills I would like to see made more useful in the future.

I think I read somewhere that temple harlots use it a lot for their job and pay.

Also I think it could be used for inciting your group of religious followers (I like to think of it as a kind of Bardic skill like from DnD without too much power behind it too).

Those are some of my attempts to make the skill more useful. Stygia has some examples as well (page 55, second and third mysteries of Hathor, for example. Some of the other religious mysteries also require it, such as Derketo). Probably find some attempts to make the skill more useful in the other sourcebooks, too. But in the core rules, there isn't much.

Yeah, but even in Power Ritual, it is of limited use for the scholar to have more than 1 rank, since you are doing an average check and the unwashed masses you are using who you will average in with are likely to have a 1 rank (or low ranks). Even if you have 10 ranks and the other 9 participants have 1 rank, and you all take 10, that's 20+11*9=119, divided by 10 participants total = ~12 on the check (even if you have 20 ranks, that's still only ~13 on the check.) You need a 15 on an average check to get more out of the power ritual, which means the scholar's ranks aren't going to matter, the only way you'll get anything more is to have a lot of followers with a lot of ranks of perform (ritual), which probably isn't easy if they are all 1st level commoners. They would need a +5 check on average, and even with a +1 from an ability score, that's still 4 ranks. And even if you have such followers, the scholar's ranks aren't going to matter when you do the average check.

Maybe Power Ritual should be revised, giving the Scholar +1 PP per hour for every 5 ranks of Perform (Ritual) the Scholar has?

Or you can just have the Scholar assisted by followers that are "dedicated" to the Perform (ritual) skill for the purposes of performing religious ceremonies.

I too hope they will eventually flesh out Power Ritual a little more; maybe add more spells requiring it.
