URGENT - please help in fleet recommendation - PSI Corp

Hi, I've just finished watching the B5 all in one boxset.

I desperately want to create a psi corp fleet with Earth Alliance ally's. I've just read that Mongoose are going to halt miniature production. The money spent the rule book and fleet lists will be better spent on models!!!

Therefore, Please could anyone advise me on what to purchase, to have a Psi Corp fleet that can be used in the most commonly sized conflicts with Earth Alliance as an ally.

Any help would be appreciated as I want to place an order asap!!!!

Thanks.

at this point, we would normally ask who will be your opponents, what size games, what is your playstyle? any ideas, otherwise you will get someone elses favourite fleet which may not suit you

You have to understand I am completely new to this.

I had intended to start small then expand as I developed my playing style. However Since production of miniatures halts next month I need a psi corp fleet that is "Jack of all trades" and has enough models for medium to large scale battles!

ok, do you have a budget? I would say get the fleet box, comes with a warship, battleship, raid ship, 4 skirmish ships and a selection of fighters. On top of that you may consider another Hunter or two, "maybe" another mothership, for Allies, Hyperions are the most versatile, as they can cover skirmish or raid level. but you may choose heavier fayre such as the Marathon.

My friend who plays Psi Corps has this:

2x Nemesis (usually only uses 1)
4x Motherships (wants 7)
8x Shadow Hunters
2x Fighter Carriers
10x Shadowcloaks

EA Allies:
1x Warlock
2x Marathon
2x Apollo.

He justs uses counters for the fighters.

Dark Angel

General Rule (at least for me) get 1 of the war (2 war in this case) and armageddon level ships for some options... besides i kinda like the look of the psi corps ones...

Now to fleet design... go for 2-3 motherships, 1-2 hunters, some of thier fighter carriers about 4 or so, 1-2 of thier shadowcloaks and then just go to town on some black omega flights....

But that's jsut me... also depends on what sizes you want to play at...

I'm willing to part with £100 - £150

Perhaps more since once they've gone I wont be able to purchase anymore.

What Earth Alliance ships can I encorporate into a Psi corp fleet?
How many flights of fighters do I need per mothership/carrier/destroyer?

My own buying method is a bit different - buy the minis you like and try to use them.............

for Psi Corps - A Mother ship or two is a good investiment (and looks good) - the Shadow Omega is a great looking ship - the hunter however looks terrible but is a very good ship ( I would proxy Shadow ships myself..............) Get some Shadowclaoks (or Tethys if you want........:) ) A fighter carry - cos the bloody things never die when I fight them!!!! - (or just get a corp freighter model!)

Get some EA ships you like the look fo as allies - again my choice would be some Hyperions, an Omega, Nova, Delphi, Olympus, Apollo, few Hermes and a Warlock - - great ship AND looks good!

Gives you a nice mix of ships that also look good :)

2 FAP from any list................

Why do you need so many motherships (to the person that wants 7)? Surely a mothership is a rare thing and only one if that would appear in a battle!!!

Whats so special about them?

Motherships are cool because they have 4AD of Beamy goodness out of their forward arc, plus they carry 4 Black Omega Flights which ROCK!

In a battle on Friday a single one of Black Omega Flights destroyed a Whitestar. Way a go the CORPS

However that goes totally against the 'fluff', according to which the Motherships are very rare and would almost never appear together, too many eggs in one basket.

Try a fleet with more than one mothership among gamers who care about the background and you will not be taken that seriously.

If on a tight budget and capable of converting ships, get the civilian ships box set and convert the liner to a mothership and the freighters to fighter carriers.

They are good but they are also B arc................. :)

I notice that that the psi corp have star fury fighters and shadow fury fighters. What ratio between the two should I go for? What is the most suitable with repect to the "fluff"?

Well........ lucky for me that fluff is .................. well just fluff!

Shadowfury fighters are later period, carried by the Hunter and Nemesis ships so a crusade era fighter. They are shadow-tech bi-product from the black ops side of the fleet list.

The Black omega starfuries are a Psi-corp telepath piloted fighters, so more in use during the period of the TV series, rather than the crusade era.

Hope that helps.

Am i missing something, but wasn't the point of Sheridan and the ISA to rid the universe of the shadows. So how come shadow tech is incorporated into the psi corp ships?

wouldn't earth gov have a ethical problem with the shadow fury's and shadow hunters?

How did the psi corp get away with this?

Do the shadow fury fighters replace the black omega flights in the crusade era or are they simply a powerfull force to be held in reserve?

In aftermath of Clark's regime, there are elements of Earthforce secret projects that still work on shadow technology.

In the Crusade era, there is an alliance between the remnants of these EF black prjects guys and the rements of Psi Corps (which is the basis of the Psi Corps fleet in the game). These include the Shadow Hunter and Shadow Fury (from the Crusade TV series and unfilmed scripts) plus the Nemesis that is a Mogoose invention.

My Psi Corps fleet consists of (once I get ships that are coming):

2 Shadow Omegas
5 hunters
2 motherships
5 fighter carriers
4 shadow cloaks
plus fighters and a 3rd Age Ea fleet to draw on for allies

I wouldn't recommend them as a starter fleet as most of the ships are a little unusual and can be dependant on luck playing a part. They are however a cool fleet to put on the table.

I notice a lot of psi corp fleet lists contain shadow omega's. Weren't thay all destroyed by the white stars in the "liberation" of earth by Sheridan and his do goodder cronies.....
