A German Raketentruppe is preparing the next assault together with a Thor walker.

German_Raketentruppe_2.jpg

A fully equipped Raketentruppe squad was a dangerous enemy to every allied troop. Dressed in leather flight suits and riding into battle on the Vossler rocket pack, they were anything but subtle.
Used only for the most important of operations, they wore heavy armour and carried the latest in automatic weap-ons and demolition charges. Due to their specialized mode of transport these units always deployed in small numbers.

Hi again,
just a quick update! Yesterday the last pics went to Dave for the final layout of the WaW: US Vehicle Compendium.
If all goes well our 4th book will be released on time at the end of May!

More Gear Krieg minis...

Walküre Ausf A and Loki Ausf B walker in ground mode (DP9s Gear Krieg range)

Loki_B.jpg

PzKpf IV Ausführung B “Loki”
The Ausführung B featured Manipulator arms and was armed with the new 1.8cm walker cannon.
The overall construction was also improved and resulted in a more rugged walker.

Walkure_A.jpg

PzKpf V Ausführung A “Walküre”
The Panzerkämpfer V Ausführung A was the first to come out of the production line. Like the “Loki” before it,
was only poorly armed, with a pintle mounted MG and some demolition charges.

More pics as usual on my website...

:!: I have just finished uploading the files to the Wargames Vault, the book is now ready for download here
:arrow:http://www.wargamevault.com/product_info.php?products_id=62483

BTW: Thanks for all the encouraging feedback over the last months!
While our 4 books and 2 other products are not really financially rewarding (somehow I was not able to buy me the Jaguar Matt Sprange mentions...), the amount of nice constructive and overall good feedback was a reward on its own!
You rule! :D 8) :D

Hot on the heels of the succesful U.S.Vehicle Compendium (see:http://www.wargamevault.com/product_info.php?products_id=62483) is our 5th book: the Chinese Army Compendium.

The Chinese Army Compendium is your comprehensive guide to using Chinese armies in Battlefield Evolution: World at War. The Chinese role and importance in World War II is often overlooked or misjudged by western wargamers and even historians. For China World War II has a rather different meaning then that in the rest of the world.
CAC_COVER_H500.jpg

Interestingly enough in China, no one talks about the Second World War; instead people talk about the Anti-Japanese War. This book covers the Chinese armed forces of the War against the Imperial Japanese Army from 1937 to 1945; be it Kuomintang forces (Chinese National Revolutionary Party) or Mao Tse-tung’s People Liberation Army.

Included are the following army lists:
1937 – 1938 Nanking National Revolutionary Army
1937 – 1941 Soviet Advised National Revolutionary Army
1942 – 1943 National Revolutionary Army
1944 – 1945 Late War Chinese US equipped X and Y-Forces
1937 – 1945 Chinese Red Army Guerrilla Forces

The book also provides new Traits, Modified Advanced Rules and options to use captured equipment to add to your games of World at War. Stats for the following vehicle and air units are also included:
BA-10 Scout Car
BA-6 Light Armoured Car
Bren Carrier
FT-17
L3/33 Tankette
M24 Chaffee Light Tank
M3 Halftrack
M3A1 White Scout Car
M3A3 Stuart Light Tank
M4A4 Sherman Tank
PzKpfw I Ausführung A Tank
SdKfz 221 Panzerspähwagen
SdKfz 222 Panzerspähwagen
T-26 Light Tank
Vickers 6-Ton Mk E Type B

Air Assets
Curtiss P-40 Warhawk
Polikarpov I-16

All infantry and vehicle units in this book are consistent with existing units in the Battlefield Evolution: World at War rulebook also written by me.

This book requires the use of Battlefield Evolution: World at War, available from Mongoose Publishing.
We are aiming for a release date at the end of June 2009. Stay tuned! Until then feel free to check out our products at the Wargames Vault (see:http://www.wargamevault.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=2468).

I am really busy at the moment to paint up the remaining Gear Krieg models for the book release. :D
The line of German walkers is now completed: PzKpf VI Ausführung F “Thor” (DP9s Gear Krieg range) is done!

Another preview picture of the Gear Krieg book: the mighty T-44 Nicolai Lenin land battleship.
T-44_Nikolai_Lenin.jpg

T-44 Nikolai Lenin - In Service: 1940 - The T-44 was a land battleship in its truest sense.
The lessons learned from the T-28, T-35 or T-100 tanks were incorporated in the design of the Nikolai Lenin.
Its wide tracks make it less vulnerable to staying stuck in soft ground.
A powerful diesel engine drove each set of tracks through rugged transmission adapted industrial machinery.

Hello Agis,

one question concerning the German Vehicle Compendium:

This weekend I noticed, that the following three weapons; 7,5 cm L70, 8,8cm Flak and 8,8 cm L71, all have the same profile. Is this correct?

I ask this question because I observed, that the Jagdpanzer IV/70 and the Jagdpanther are having the same weapon (stat-wise). The Jagdpanzer IV is 150 points cheaper. The profile of both tanks are different of course, but I think that these differences do not justify this difference in points costs.

On the other hand, if you compare the Panzer IV/H and the Panther, both have different weapons and have a different profile. The Panther is 180 points more expensive but has the better weapon and profile.

Maybe I missed something and of course I must say, I have not used all of these vehicles in our games, but I want to be sure. :)

Yes! Absolutely intended.

Please reconsider this evaluation when thinking of Hits/3, Higher Speed, better side and rear values and the Hull mounted MG of the Jagdpanther...

Try them out in a couple of games and hopefully you agree with my points!

Some more preview pics.

T-44-10_Nikolai_Lenin.jpg

T-44-10 Nikolai Lenin - In Service: 1940 - The 47mm cannon of the Lenin was always viewed as a weakness, and the large turret always yearned for a larger weapon. The mammoth 122mm gun was a marvel of engineering, able to pulverize even German heavy tanks. Ammunition was always in short supply, however, and the tank still suffered from poor mobility.

Cavalier_Mk_II.jpg

Cavalier Mk II (Infantry Walker Mk VIII B) - In Service: 1940 – The biggest improvement of the Cavalier Mk II was the reinforced frontal armour and the turret mounted MG. Model by DP9

Cavalier_Mk_III_Crocodile.jpg

Cavalier Mk III Crocodile: The rare 1942 Crocodile Flamethrower variant was mostly used in the Pacific theatre.

Roundhead_Mk_II.jpg

Roundhead Mk II (Infantry Walker Mk XII B) – In Service:1941 - The Roundhead Mk II was virtually identical to the Mk I, the only change was the main armament. Instead of the 1.2 pdr. Gun an American made Flamethrower was mounted in the round turret. Model by DP9

With the yesterday release of the Chinese book Dave and I can now start the layout work of the Gear Krieg book. More soon hopefully!

Layout is in full swing now. Time to show some more preview pics...

Cavalier_Mk_III_sm.jpg

Cavalier Mk III (Infantry Walker Mk VIII C ) - In Service: 1941 – The C variant of the Cavalier was a much needed improvement over the previous models. Refinements by Vickers from the Christie walker suspension followed a natural progression as industrial production was smoothed out and technical refinements came to fruition. It enabled the Cavalier Mk III to be air deployed.
A light cannon based on a necked-down AA shell was mounted in the turret of the B variant. For close range attacks the C was armed with the better M40 explosive charges that were also seen on the Roundhead walker. A better radio set with more extensive range was also added. Model by DP9

My pleasure!

BTW: We are working on some Gear Krieg preview pages, maybe I can even reveal the cover soon.
Dave is slaving away at the moment...

Dave and I are on it! Gear Krieg is soon ready, I have just uploaded 120 MB of pictures to Dave, the layout is in full swing.

Check out the Cover preview and a sample page to get a feel of the book.
GK_cover.jpg

The pages are following the same layout pattern that was also used in the Chinese Army Compendium, you get the unit entry and also all the possible weapon stats for the unit, so no more flipping around in the book just to check which weapon is to your liking.
GK_Loki_prev.jpg

The good old Armoury lists will be featured in addition to the above; so no loss at all. You can also expect the usual high quality unit cards that most of us are so fond of! So stay tuned...

If i remember well, the "kampfer" and "walkers" are in 15 mm?

So, impossible to play in 1/72 ? :?

The DP9 range is indeed 15mm (1/100), next to 20mm models they look a of course a bit tiny...
That is the reason why the book includes a Chapter ("A Word on scale!") that will give you rules of how to play with multi based 15mm infantry stands that are so popular n the 15mm scale.

For 20mm or any other scale you still have German Rocket Troops, Zombies and US Helicopter Infantry.
And nobody is going to stop you to convert some walker is any scale you want. I have done a 28mm (1/56) German one:
