Uber-cool sci-fi images thread...for use with your campaigns

I did a little searching for good art, specifically ships, and I found a treasure trove. There are so many images by so many artists I would be doing a disservice by posting a single image here. Even better, the site looks like it gets updated quite often.

Check out http://conceptships.blogspot.com/ and be sure to go back into the archives since the page linked is only for the current month.

That site, when I've attempted to access it, has crashed the browser on two separate machines.

Hmm. I looked at it using Safari on a Mac and Firefox on WinXP. Maybe it's a problem with IE or maybe the machines are running out of memory since there are lots of big images?

BTW, I'm not connected to that site in any way, just thought it had cool images.

The last two definitely have that 1970s "big ship" vibe (like the stuff in the TTA books).

These books were great! I always thought they fit fairly well in my impression of the Traveller setting...

a) I actually asked that people credit the source of the images in the second post on this thread for precisely this reason.

b) Nobody's actually redistributed anything in this thread - all the image links are showing the image that is stored on the original site itself.

Yep, I saw that and figured it should have been enough, apparently not though, so I used a bigger soft tap on the shoulder.

I dunno what definition you're using, but I'm using the standard english dictionary meaning of the word "distribution" - the file hasn't been moved off its original server (so it's not been 're-distributed'), it's just been linked to from here.

Would it be better if it was just a link and not a picture? Probably. But nobody's "using" it elsewhere here, and the copyrights are clearly shown in the image. So I don't think you've got any reason to be on your high horse here.

How about judges? The courts have ruled deep linking legal. It's considered rude, but if the server owner doesn't like it, their best recourse is to refuse off-site referers. (A simple technical measure.) Maybe these people haven't done that because they get the point of the web.

How about John McCain? He got burned by doing this. The only way for the image owner to get rid of him was to get creative with the image the campaign was using. Search for 'John McCain myspace gay marriage.'
