Tzymms and Xarrs

Diesel

Mongoose
Another stupid question...

Is it me, or are the Vree Xarr patrol boat models for ACTA the exact same as the large-scale Tzymms from B5 Wars?

They look almost identical to me. Just wondering if anyone out there knew for sure. :)

They are indeed.

Whitestar fighters are simply FA scale White Stars.

And the new style Vorlon transports are FA scale transports.

Mongoose made good use of several different scale models.

I love the big Olympuses, I think they are a great model.

The new ones are just too small - now they are smaller than a Hermes.

But if you read the First Edition fluff text, an Olympus is supposed to be half the size of a Hermes. Not twice the size!

I'm glad they did away with the retarded freaking huge Olympus corvettes and switched to the smaller ones :D

BTW, the new Olympus is original Mongoose sculpt. IMHO they are actually better than the FA ones. :)

Its a nice little model, I think it looks really solid. I honestly didn't LIKE the model until I recieved some with my 3rd age fleet and turned out to be honestly surprised at how nice they look.

I've also been impressed with the new Hyperion hulls. Much better than the old cast

If the new Hyperion has a flaw, it would be that the hull is too slim. Not that i'm complaining.. I could use my old one as a variant.

I'm with you Greg, the big ones are great, I have 2 from a Reinforcement box

Have you looked at the size of the turret on a hermes... that gun must be huge! Just saying as a size comparison the hermes is a terrible choice, that thing is supposed to be small (it was two missiles originally, as in two... not two racks).

I would imagine that the Myrmidion and Hermes are scaled more in line with the fighters than with the other ships.

It shouldn't be that small, though.
Remember that it's a jump-capable ship - and a jump capable ship built with 2168 Human technology.

Given that being told the White Star was jump capable nearly a century later was a "you what now?" experience for Earthforce officers, the Hermes should not be anywhere near as small...

i thought the original use of the hermes was for troop and cargo suppy
probably not so small in my mindset

It is an armed transport, if memory serves, able to support front line units and protect itself to some extent.

it was more a priority transport than a cargo hauler... vital cargo and small numbers of troops. It did support the front line, but not as an independent ship in a combat zone, more a convoy ship... several supporting each other in case stray fighters came their way. When we were looking at the old originals, they talked about the turret on top being the same as one turret from the omega... those tiny tiny turrets that are a pain to glue on.

I don't have my old books handy, don't remember if it was supposed to have the jump point... hard to remember...

I think it did. I recall reading that the raiders bought surplus ones and stripped out the Q-40 from the jump engines for cash, hence the Raider Brigantine (the same model) didn't have them.

This is interesting...you all are commenting about which mini's are whatever scale...when you can't get anymore fragging mini's at all!
