Banded Mongoose
I'm reading through the legendary abilities in the MRQ core book and noticed something odd. In the Battle Fury ability, the STR and CON are supposed to each go up by five points, but only for purposes in determining damage modifiers.

STR makes perfect sense.

Should this read STR and SIZ, of should I be calculating some extra HP benefit using the expanded CON score as well as the extra damage done via the STR score?

I'm thinking the text should have read STR and SIZ.

I'm at work and don't have my book in front of me, so I don't know the numbers. I just wanted to say that it wouldn't make much sense for it to be STR and SIZ because your SIZ wouldn't change because of Battle Fury (which is similar, I suppose, to being Berserk?). It makes more sense for it to be STR and CON, to me.

No, it's probably to do with Berserker/Berserkergang and the minotaur Battle Rage in RQ2/3.

They all increased CON, thus giving more hit points and making them harder to affect with disease and poison.

So, it makes sense to keep such abilities increasing STR and CON.

But, hey, if you want it to increase SIZ not CON then go for it.

For instance, in RQ2, we played that Berserker from Zorak Zoran gave you 2 points of Countermagic and Berserker from Storn Bull gave 2 points of Protection. RQ3 didn't give a countermagic boost, so it became irrelevant, but we did make Berserker more effective against Chaos for Stormbullers.

I just wanted to get to the bottom of it (maybe I just need some sleep)

The text in question:

Your STR and CON are both considered to be
5 points higher, but only for the purposes of
determining your Damage Modifier.

I could change CON to SIZ and leave the rest of the text meaning as is or I could use CON for temporary HP (adding to the text).

I think you're on the right track, or at least that's how I'd do it - let STR and CON raise in relation to Damage Modifier and Hit Point distribution. That would make sense if it's a berserker sort of thing, being able to deal and take more damage, temporarily.

Yeah, it seems like to me it should read.

Your STR and CON are both considered to be
5 points higher, but only for the purposes of
determining your Damage Modifier and Hitpoints.

Thanks (to all) I think I'll go with this solution. It would seem STR would have increased by ten (and siz ignored) is HP were not to be increased.
