Two Robot Supplements ?

Mongoose
The German publisher of Mongoose Traveller, the 13 Mann Verlag, is
about to publish a robot supplement for Mongoose Traveller, and Mon-
goose has announced Book 9: Robots for later this year.

I wonder whether this is the same supplement, for example with Mon-
goose's Book 9 as a translation of the German supplement, or whether
there will be two different (and perhaps contradictory) "official" robot
supplements.

Since there's one official source for Mongoose Traveller(Mongoose itself funnily enough) no there won't be 2 official robot supplements.

There will be 2 robot supplements if non-Mongoose publisher is going to release one however. But that's fair enough. It's not like world isn't big enough for 2 of them :)

And no Mongoose won't be translating other people's supplements. They produce their owns. So at best it's the otherway around that the other is german translation of mongoose's book though haven't heard of such translations before(apart from the mongoose in french but haven't heard of german main rulebook etc) which makes it unlikely.

The 13 Mann Verlag is the official German license holder of Mongoose
Traveller and has published the main rulebook as well as several of
the Mongoose supplements in German, with more to follow - so this is
indeed official rules material.

Since the German robots supplement will be published this July, it can
hardly be a translation of a Mongoose supplement that has been an-
nounced for October, I think.

Well... it's only a 3 month window. If Robots has been finalised for some time it may be that other Mongoose releases have bumped it down to October, while if 13 Mann Verlag has a clearer publication schedule they may be in a position to release the translation now.

@ tneva82 There are More Oficial Sources for Traveller MGP is only the british License Holder for CT. And As you can see on the Traveler Download area MGP is not Sure what to do with it, they use it like D20 for all possible Settings. On one side good (if you want to play one of this setting or something near) on the other side bad because MGP loose the View over the Potent and the Posibilitys of Traveller.

As I understood both books are independent. None is a translation of the other...

So lots of Robots then

I like this cover...but as a MgT Book should it not be solid black...
Until now the 13 Mann Verlag has used the Mongoose covers for the Ger-
man translations of Mongoose Traveller. However, this is one is an origi-
nal production, not a translation, and perhaps they want to give it a diffe-
rent kind of cover to distinguish it from the Mongoose line.

.......Does 13 Mann do English translations and ship overseas? I'd budget for that if that's the quality of artwork in there.

I think there would be no problem with shipping overseas, but I very
much doubt that they intend to translate the supplement - and I have
no idea what the interior artwork of the supplement will look like.

I think a translation depends on the success of the German book. When it is received well in Germany I see no reason for them not to translate it.

Depends if the scope of their license allows them to market outside of Germany using English language products...

Yep, a Mongoose license holder that publishes a product in direct compe-
tition with one of Mongoose's own products should even ask for Mongoo-
se's permission if the license would theoretically allow it - it is never a
good idea to step on the license owner's toes.

Translators that can do technical stuff more advanced than "Elvens and knotholes" are rare and costly in germany.

Really? There isn't anything in the traveller books that if just being translated, can't be done by any person fluent in both languages. Hell, you don't even have to go from metric to English system.
